Hi,
I am testing some of the tutorials as I may take over for the person using Codecharge here. The current problem is the live page doesn't seem to work for me. I have my publishing settings set to go to an FTP server, the FTP appears to go through and the files do get uploaded to the FTP site fine. I have tried deleting the folder on the web server and creating it again as an empty folder to verify that the files are getting uploaded fresh - which they are.
Publishing settings:
Server: www.mydomain.com
Folder: lsl
Live site URL: http://www.mydomain.com/lsl
When I click on live page it publishes - every single time even if no changes were made then says -
"Cannot find http://www.mydomain.com/lsl/NewPage1.php" Make sure the path or internet address is correct". However if I type this URL in my browser I can open the page fine.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you,
lslade

Uppercase Lowercase, target is Linux?
See ProjectSettings General,:
Target is Windows or Unix?
Do not use Live Page but Shift F7 instead, suggestion only.

Hi wkempees,
Thanks for your reply. The target is Linux but I am not sure what you are asking regards to Uppercase and Lowercase? The files were generated and sent to the Linux server with the exact case as on the Windows development machine. The link that the Live Page complains it cannot find contains upper case characters but the exact same link with the same case does work in both IE7 and FF3.
I also tried changing the settings: Server/Script >> Output File Format to "unix". It was "Windows" before and thanks for pointing me towards it but this didn't fix this issue.
I am starting to see that live page is of limited use anyway. since it takes so long to publish.
I tried turning off my Kaspersky antivirus since it has complained about Codecharge in the past that also didn't help.

Live page, my experience, is only useful when a local test system is setup.
(XAMPP like)
Consider this, when in a project with many many pages, doing construction on say 1 page.
If that one page has only a record on it and has another page that has the caller grid, I open in Design only the caller page and the page I am working on.
When ready to test, I press F8 or CTRL+F8 on the page I am working on, then select the caller page and press F10 on that one.
Another good practice is to reset ProjectSettings Home Page to the Page or top of PageTree you are working on, SHIFT F7 will then start things up easy.
Main recommendation is : Local test system, no FTP.
At the risk of being shot by Peterr and friends:
Your LivePage using FTP refuses/gives it's error message because:
You are Faster than your (any) FTP....
consider this: You press Live Page, all is generated, meanwhile default browser is started, ftp process starts, you adress your URL, FTP process deletes file and starts transfer, your Browser cannot find the URL/FileName.php, FTP finishes writing FileName.php.
Solution: dont use LivePage but F8/F9->SHIFT F7
Or get a local install.

Thanks very much for the recommendations. I set up a local server and now live site seems to work better. I will also start using quick publish.
Thanks again,
