Just found out that the FCK-editor is fully compatible with Googles Chrome browser!
Chrome is even faster than Opera. Fantastic news I think. :-D

I'v been checking out Chrome and comparing it with IE7 and 8 and FireFox and find that even though it is beta, it is polished and fast., My main concern was CSS rendering and notice it is much better then IE6,7,8, for example, if using the Float tag MS is still flaky.
Trying to use that tag works as expected iwth Chrome, Opera and FF but is unpredictably rendered in IE 6+ so I have to use a table in a new project to create 2 columns. CCS projects using CSS for tableless layouts is easy for all browsers except IE, and unfortunately IE has 87% of the total market share.
CCS styles render perfectly from what I've seen so far. I think Chrome has a chance to really cut into MS's lead in market share because it is simple, free and works. I've liked FF since the first beta but form many casual users it has too many options and features. My mother could like Chrome, its very simple interface is not intimidating at all for non-techies.
The real threats to MS on the desktop are Googles applications..word processor, spreadsheet and calendar; again simple interface, free and work, just the opposite of Office.

Chrome still has a few published issues but if anyone has shown its able to develop interesting functional applications it is Google. Google wanted a browser with builtin hooks for more desktop type wrb applications so needed a faster Javascript interpreter and the V8 interpreter they developed apparently is much faster and still being optimized. FF announced their new Beta of FF will have an even faster Javascript interpreter.

I have been thinking about requiring everyone in the office to use FF or Chrome to use my new web application backed-end for our shopping cart and booking/order processing suite all built with CCS, naturally. That way I can make sure the page looks the way it was supposed to without all the IE detection and work arounds.
I built a simple, CCS stock, editable grid the other day and it looks perfect on everything but IE8 which screws up the layout so it appears that IE8 is a step backwards in standards compliance.

I like Chrome too, but...

For me the screen is the whole experience. I hate the primary school bright blue tabs at the top of the Chrome browser.

When we choose a desktop style our applications inherit the colours we set, our eyes become accustom to the colours and they don't interfere with our experience.

You would think that Google with all its cleverness(?) would take more care to understand the user experience.

But it is only a Beta so...

I just love the clean layout and the remarkable speed of Chrome! Clearing the cash for the last day is also fantastic when working with Styles.
No "bars" on the top just two symbols puts the fokus on the content. I think I have found a new favourite browser here (sorry Opera).

my 2 cents...every time I hear about a new browser or even a new version of an existing one I cringe!!! :-( it just means more limitations and pain for my web designers.

@All,
good reading.
YUI Grids, anyone?
Columns, floats, tableless, all major browsers (incl WebKit Chrome's base).
While at it, check out YUI editor.

I am no addict, just a nomad.

I'd donate to anyone building me a style based on YUI Grids but with the CCS classes, although as I am writing this I could really do with a challenge myself, lol.

Walter
