Hello,
CodeCharge Studio 4.1 Release Candidate is now available for download at: http://download.yessoftware.com/CCStudio4_1RC.exe
This is mainly a maintenance release but with couple changes/features:
- ASP.NET 3.5 support was added for ASP.NET projects (in Project Settings)
- Advanced Search feature was added as an option in all builders that create the search feature (Search Builder, Grid Builder, Editable Grid Builder, etc.). This is a simple option provided as an alternative to "AND" and "OR" searches, while it creates the same type of search as provided for this forums at http://forums.codecharge.com/search.php
CodeCharge Studio will automatically create one keyword entry field and the listbox that allows users to select a search type: "Any of Words", "All Words", "Exact Phrase".
I will also provide the list of bug fixes included in this release, by Friday.
For now have fun playing with the Advanced Search

Hi Peter.
That sounds interesting.
Can CCS4.1RC be installed next to CCS4.0 or does it overwrite the installation?

That's nice, the fun factor is back!
Thanks Peter, and the rest of the team.
materix:
Install, asks current version 4 uninstall, so it is an overwrite install not a side-by-side.
Can I have my Artisteer licence too?

Walter

Excitement and trepidation
I always have problems with upgrades. Still haven’t recovered from the last one properly, but I suppose I’ll give it a go.

This is a Release Candidate!
If you are not sure about updates, than do not do this one wait for the Real McKoy.
Have done it, and realy like the advanced search.
Not only that it is there but that it is offered as an Action, altering an already exisiting where clause.
Working nicely.
Waiting for the release and it's notes.
Walter

Hello,
Sorry for delay as it took me a while to confirm the list of changes and fixes.
Here is the list:
New changes and features:
- Added support for ASP.NET 3.5 Project Settings (C#, VB, InMotion/C#, InMotion/VB.)
- Advanced Search (as one of the search options.)
- Updated AJAX Libraries to newer versions (Prototype library from v1.7 to v1.8.1 , YUI from v2.2.2 to v2.5.2 .)
- Disabled generating AJAX services during Quick Publishing (Ctrl+F8), for faster compilation of ASP.NET/InMotion pages.
Resolved issues:
- ASP: Certain database errors were not passed and not displayed on the page.
- ASP: The report form did not work within Ajax Update Panel.
- ASP.NET AJAX Update Panel: Radio buttons don't work on a search form placed within an Update Panel.
- ASP.NET InMotion: field values were being validated and required even when the required property was set to "No".
- ASP.NET InMotion: multiple record forms could not be processed when submitted with a single submit button.
- ColdFusion: Resolved several issues with the Menu functionality..
- Java (JSP, Servlets): Editable Grid occasionally did not display values in listboxes.
- PHP: Resolved the "unexpected T_STRING" error when using PostgreSQL.
- PHP: Placing an SQL expression into "Group By" section of the VQB resulted in generating wrong SQL syntax.
- PHP: Resolved several issues with the Menu functionality.
- AJAX Features: CCS created incorrect HTML parameters after specifying Ajax parameters for functions like YahooColorAnimation, YahooScroll and YahooMotion.
- AJAX Autofill: Autofill feature did not work with field names containing spaces.
- IDE+AJAX: Occasionally Ajax features were duplicated on a page after opening and closing the Feature selection dialog.
- IDE: Couple issues with incorrect HTML parsing, resulting in such errors as "Unable to find beginning of the block..." and "Cannot find opening tag for...".
- Client events: onload and oonunload did not fire.
- IDE: International versions of CCS (after changing the IDE language) did not allow selecting "ListOfValues" in listbox data source property (VQB).
- CCS Example Packs: Resolved minor issues, for example with missing "id" attributes.
- Other issues found during internal product testing and submitted to product support
We plan to update and officially release CCS 4.1 by Setpember 20.
Recently we've also worked with our partner Extensoft/Artisteer (www.artisteer.com) to provide them with CCS page templates that are now output by Artisteer as a form of Website design templates for CodeCharge Studio. Those are similar to Web design templates that any Web designer may provide, which requires manual adaptation within CodeCharge Studio.
As the next step we are starting to work on further integration efforts with Artisteer that will require some structural changes within CCS to support custom form headers and footers. The goal is to further automate Website design process in a way to minimize the manual adaptation of external Website designs within CodeCharge Studio. This is not necessarily Artisteer-specific but should improve the flexibility of using any external Website design templates and creating better looking Websites without being tied to using only CCS Styles.
Captcha and couple other features are also being worked on for CCS 4.2.
(Walter, I've just requested your Artisteer license )

And what about the possibility of changing tabs in the tabbed control programatically that was promised for 4.1? The lack of this features hampers a lot the use of the tabs.
It would be very useful when on a page with grid / record to put each in a different tab and click on a link on the grid and it would switch tabs showing the record tab with the appropriate record.

Received in good order, many thanks.
For September 20:
General: The Builder's option: 'Save Builder Options' to include the choice of Buttons/Images (Step 3) for both grid and record builders
Internationalization: Merge option for language resource file, accepting an external csv for input and adding only the resources not already in the targetfile.
PhP: Have custom.php respond to ProjectSettings for Php4/php5
PhP: as Template directory option, have one for Include or BaseFilePath, and change the ./ used throughout in the Include(...) to reflect that BaseFilePath.

Hi,
I notice the Prototype version in 4.1 RC1 is v 1.6.0.1 - this was released in December 2007.
On 25th January 2008 version 1.6.0.2 was released, which should be a 'drop in replacement' and where the developers addressed 28 bugs (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/browser/spinoffs/prototype/tags/rel_1-6-0-2/CHANGELOG).
Is there any chance v 4.1 can use v1.6.0.2 instead?
And one comment: my installation of v4.1 shows 4.0 in the title bar...
Regards,
Viking

Hi all!
Can someone confirm a bug for me before I report it. In any form where you have a text area, edit a record and somewhere in the middle of the text put the word "Where".
In RC1 I got some totally crazy results. It seemed to put part of the WHERE clause in the column data and created like 50 copies of the same record. I rolled back to the release version and this didn't happen.
I am using MySQL 5, PHP5, Apache and Linux, but it does the same thing on my Windows box.
Thanks in advance!
Rick

I have also sent many more errors to support. Not getting much response though other than the following from PeterR.
"This version most likely will be the final 4.1 unless anyone reports issues to us."
Hope they are paying attention to the forums and bug reports and will fix them quickly with 4.1 official release.

The CCS 4.1 update was just released, and more information can be found at http://support.yessoftware.com/updates.asp
There are only couple minor changes from the RC version, bug fixes related to mod_perl and advanced search with ASP, and updated French translations.
You may also see an auto-update notification in CCS about this version.
