Hi All

We are looking for voluteers to help Beta Test a new service being added to CCSElite.com.

The Member's On-Line store is days from completion.

Anyone who would like to test and has some software, tips, tools, tutorials etc. you would like to share and sell with other members, is invited to help test. We will be needing about 5 - 6 folks who want to test.

You will be given a free lifetime membership to CCSElite.com's Full Member Services.

Here is a little background:

Last August, Rick Mentecky, Walter Kempees, and I came up with an idea that our CCS community could use a forum where we could meet, chat, share tips & tricks, get questions answered, have code developed, and sell our stuff to others.

CCSElite.com was born. We have been working on it adding services and features that we hope will be a notch above other forums and users groups.

In creating this community the basics are.

The forums, news, portfolio galleries, quick tips, some video/tutorial, and On-Line Store areas are open to everyone.

Registration is free and by registering you get full access to:
1. Portfolio Galleries where you can post information on your work including images, showing off your work.
2. Forums (excluding Members Only Forums)
3. Chat Rooms (excluding Members Only Chats)
4. CCS Community News
5. Bulletins and Updates
6. Many Videos and Tutorials

Full Membersip is a small one time fee and by joining you get full access to:
Portfolio Galleries where you can post information on your work including images, showing off your work.
1. Forums
2. Chat Room
3. All Tutorials and Videos
4. Create your own On-Line Store and sell your wares. (Small paypal fee and CCSE fee deducted and your sales will be sent to your PayPal accout. Other payment options coming soon)
5. Special Members Only Forums
6. Special Members Only Chats
7. CCS Community News
8. Bulletins and Updates
9. and other exclusive features

In The Works:
We are planning to add scheduled Chats where a chatroom will be open at a specific time to discuss a specific topic. These chatrooms hopefully will be hosted and moderated by an expert on that topic from our community. Other items planned are complete library of on-demand tutorials and videos playable on-line. If you have any suggestions, you can post them at CCSElete.com at this URL. http://ccselite.com/forums_topics.php?forum_id=12

Anyway, We are hoping this comunity will have value to all of us and it will be as great as the sum of it's members.

If you want to be part of the Beta Test for ON-Line Store, Contact either Rick or me or leave a post here.

Many of you are already registered members so we will change you to a full member.

If you are not already a registered member go to http://ccselite.com/login.php and sign up. we will then change your membership status.

Thanks to all and Walter, You will be missed!!!!

Have Fun!!

I am curious as to how this works in conjunction with the official forums we already have?

1. Portfolio Galleries - we have this now
2. Forums - we have this now
3. Chat Rooms - not sure enough will participate; chat is notoriously hard to pull off
4. CCS Community News - we have this now
5. Bulletins and Updates - we have this now
6. Many Videos and Tutorials - we have tutorials now

I guess my main concern is that starting a second community has the potential to water down the existing one. now I have to be active in two forums to get everything?

what am I missing here? :-/

+1 for JimmyCrackedCom

I support you in 80%, with one observation: Theese forums are pretty flat with technology of 5 years ago. CCSElite can do it very nice, doing a more customized, less "standard", more multimedia, images, ajax...
Video and tutorials can be best organized than here (there's only a view: forum).

CCSElite can be nicer if get used to the new CCS 4.x features (ajax, and more).

The gallery is better than the showcase here (much better, can get improved).
Something that CCSElite can add is more real-world examples, working sites that shows CCS features already working (theese forums lacks this).

CCS Elite can do a very nice work, not as substitute of this forums, but as compliment.

Good luck boys.

Hi

Thanks for the feedback.

The functions you have cited are availabile at the Yes Forum true. However we are hoping a community will develop where members can meet and chat live about thier CCS adventures. This could lead to more rapid solutions to questions. Also we plan to have sceduled chats on specific topics of interest. Sort of like a CCS Channel with specific programming where members can interact. This community is hopefully also a place where griping about CCS would be at a minimum. Additionally, we are hoping that members can share entire solutions, request coding being done, have utilities developed by other members of the community.

However, we are hoping that some of the services we have will be a notch or two above others. Initially the Member's On-Line Store is a place where members can upload their solutions, tip, tricks, software, CCS Code or applicatrions. The member will be able to set a price and sell the item for cash in the On-Line Store.

We hope to add other services that do not exist on other sites.

If you have suggestions (Other that coding or bells and whistles) for services or functions you would like to see, That would be appreciated.

Have Fun

Jimmy, I read your concerns and most of them were considered when John and I were designing the site. CCSElite is not, and never was, intended to replace these forums. John and I love this place and both visit multiple times a day. It is in fact intended to compliment an already established and growing community of developers and offer more features than we have here.

Below I'll address as many of your concerns as I can and hopefully explain why a separate site is better.

Portfolio Galleries
True, there is a gallery forum here, but the CCSElite gallery is more of a personal showcase. It is a module specifically designed for the purpose of showing off your work. As time goes by and users request them, I'm sure the category list will expand to include all types of sites not only those made with CCS. Also, thumbnails to any gallery item a user adds will be listed on his/her profile page. This means you have an online portfolio automatically when replying to "Help Wanted" ads in the forums. Another big difference is we are very search engine friendly. Each image you upload gets it's own page, URL and a title that the large search engines will index.

Forums
Yes we have those here also. At CCSElite we are able to be a lot more flexible with our forum topics than they can here for obvious reasons. As a forum for CCS topics YesSoftware is the going to be the first place most CCS developers are going to look. John and I though are willing to bet that CCS is only one tool in the toolbox that most developers in these forums use. We intend to add forums that cross over platforms and languages. For example, AJAX is used in ASP, PHP, .NET, etc. We'll have an AJAX forum that will be pertinent to all, rather than asking an AJAX question in the .NET forum.

Chat Rooms
These aren't here and yes, we expect them not to be easy to pull off. We plan several uses for them though. First, we will schedule topic specific sessions based on what the more common questions in the forums are. Second, it provides a nice easy to get to place for developers to meet and exchange instant messages on hot topics rather than waiting hours between posts on the forums.

CCS Community News
This is mainly news about the CCSElite site itself.

Update and Bulletins
Agreed, we have that here too. We plan on using this not only to update everyone on CCS versions and updates, but other CCS and non-CCS related products. We also plan to offer unbiased reviews of products and tools we run across that make programming easier.

Videos and Tutorials
You can find some tutorial content here, but it doesn't change often and is specific to CCS itself. Our tutorials and videos will not only be created by us, but will include user generated content.

Wow! That was a lot longer of an answer than I had hoped it would be, but you did ask a bunch of questions. :-)

I hope that was enough to convince you that CCSElite is a good thing for the community and we'll see you there as well as here.

Rick

sounds like you agree with me! IMHO it doesn't sound like enough different stuff to support a completely separate community. also the fact that you plan to make $ with it is concerning as I already pay for CCS and for CCS support here. most of what you are offering is here or could be placed here by users if they wanted it. I guess I'll just wait and see if there is enough unique stuff to justify it. thanks for your response and best of luck.

This foroum is great. But to me is limited about CCS.

I am a new web developer, I have 15 years of experiencie develop systems to enterprise, but as client-server technology.

The step to jump from develop client-server to web is very dificult, and I think that ccselite is a good site to see another tecnologys about ajax, javascript, jquery, another librarys, php, mysql, etc.

Let's go my friends, a lot a people need more qualify sites to web development.

Giovanni

Hi Giovanni

Thanks for you comments.

We are hoping that CCSElite will be able to compliment this forum by being available for discussions and software that will include CCS but go a step further.

Hope to see you there as well.

Have Fun

OK here’s my 2 cents…

A forum isn’t about whistles and bells, it’s about the people that frequent it!

I think that if you build another forum it may undermine the community here by drawing traffic away.

If I was to build anything to compliment this forum it would be a repository for examples, code, videos and collaborative projects that could be linked to from within this forum. I might also build a chat facility??? But definitely not another forum!

Just my logic?

I agree 100%!

I feel we really don't need a 2nd CCS forum (but we could use more participation here by both the community and Yes.)

and I must admit I am not too keen on the idea that this "new and improved" forum would be charging us since we already pay to play over here! (not for the forum specifically but for the product and the support)

bottom line is this community is probably not big enough to need or support multiple forums. I'd much rather see more contributions here where all CCS users already hang out.

I agree 100% with JCC and Waspman.

But... YesSoftware should/could also make this forum "a better place" since there is obviously a demand for it. (hence ccselite)

Waspman, Jimmy, Renes.

That is exactly what CCSelite is all about. Examples, videos, chat, software, taking CCS one step further and have discussion, tools, tips, and software involving CCS and other technologies.

CCSElite was designed to be more than just a forum but a community of developers who use CCS as one of our tools in our bag of tricks.

Also a place where you can post your software, tools, tutorials, videos, etc... for sale to other members of the community and to developers at large. Also, your portfolio and products are highly visible to all the major search engines.

We are hoping that this will compliment the Yes forum by going that extra step.

As someone said, The quuality of a communities members determine the quality of the community.

Hope to see you at CCSElite as well.

The old saying goes "Two heads are better than one". A little variety never hurts.

Have fun.

with a name like "CCSElite" it seems to me that CCS --IS-- your primary focus as opposed to being "one of our tools in our bag of tricks".

and why in the world would you charge community members for a community they would be largely responsible for creating?

I'm not trying to rain on your parade so I'll stop commenting at this point but I really don't see how this is something good for the CCS community.

Ok JCC

Don't join.

The fact it is called CCSElite does not limit the topics to CCS only. It is up to the members as to what is discussed and how that fits into out tool set. The online store is a way for soutions of all sorts to be shared.

Many members on this forum have dontate buttons for their solutuions. CCSElite does that only in a better way for it's members. Solutions can be uploaded and priced by the member. No need for dontate buttons and the item is available to the entire developer community.

But I'm sure what we are trying to add to the CCS community will be bad. It is, after all, only as good as the members of the community.

Thanks for your feedback.

Incidentally, this post was just asking for voluteers to beta-test the online store.

Yikes.
