hi there,
I would like to have one dynamic grid which shows the contents of multiple tables. It will basically work like a Database Management System - for now.
My Idea:
Step 1.
Have a grid listing all the tables : query run on the SQLServer DB (working fine)
Step2.
Once the user clicks on a table on the grid, take them to a new page containing only one grid - showing the contents of the table. (the column headers of the table + rows)
Step3.
And then when they click on a record, update that record through a editable grid.
At the moment I'm stuck with step2.
I know how to get the columns etc of a specific table through SQL, that's not the problem. Creating the dynamic grid is.
Can anyone PLZ help?
Thanks a million!

Exactly how many tables are you talking about (10, 20, 20+)? I may have a suggestion but it would not be a dynamic grid. It would make use of panelled data grids which would be turned on and off based on the users selection of a speicific table to edit.

Hey mamboBrown
Thanks for the response!
No, unfortunately the idea behind the panels wouldn't work.
I want to be able to move it even between databases.(so that would be the 20+ option)
So there's no way I would be able to turn panels on and off based on the selection of the user.
I had a look at the codecharge generated code - they use a variable for every heading in the grid.
If only that was a separate SQL or something...

If no one else replies then it probably would not hurt to see if support can give you a suggestion. They have occasionally helped me out of a tight spot. Just a suggestion...
