Hi All,

I'm on 4.1 and trying to create a site in PHP. I have a mySQL database hosted over on dreamhost, and I can succesfully create an ODBC connection to it and browse the data on my machine here with MS Access etc.

When I try and use a Grid builder on a page, I enter my connection which I've set up with the ODBC connection, and then go to the next page of the wizard where you select the table/query/fields.

The "Data Source" combo box remains empty, regardless of what I do. If I type the table name in there manually, an press the "Build Query" button, I can use the "Show Data" button to see the data, but CCS doesn't retrieve fields or the table names.

There are no fields showing in the "Available fields" list either so I can't create the Grid.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
S.

This issue comes up from time to time and is often resolved by reinstalling the ODBC driver (MySQL connector in this case).
If this doesn't work you may want to contact product support.

Did you say you are using MySQL on your live server and MS Access on
your development system? If so, I strongly suggest you install MySQL in
order to be compatible as MS-Access, while if can be used in both places
in a pinch, is not a truly relational database and even uses a different
flavor of SQL so would make development difficult when mixing the two.

Slopey,
I strongly agree with DonP. When you are developing it is best to have your development enironment closely mimic your Production environment. There are many development packages that will install a similar environment right on your desktop/laptop. To name a few:
http://www.wampserver.com/en/
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
and the list goes on.

Finally, as peterr mentioned if you wish to continue down your current path then the Yessoftware support team is definitely the ones to contact for assistance.

Thanks peterr - I'll try that an contact support if not.

DonP/mambo - my development environment does mimic the production one, I merely used MS Access to confirm that I could "access" the live database server to ensure it wasn't an access permission causing the problem.
