I did a search and found this:
http://forums.yessoftware.com/posts.php?post_id=83287

but I can't add to it, so I guess I will add here.

I created a Grid and search page, but would like the search page to be on a different page, basically exactly what the original post is about.

I looked at the 3 forum postings that were listed, but I don't see where that question is answered.

I am sure there is a reasonable way to do this, but can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Alan

Hi

You mean like the searches on these pages?

http://webtestinglive.com

Let me know if that is what you need since I am not sure of your requirement.

I guess the advanced search is closer to what I'm looking for, but basically just looking for a normal grid that has a search form on it, but I really want the user to see the search form, but no grid, then after they hit the search button, they see the results grid.

I don't want to just hide the grid or the search form depending on what they do, though that might work, but I want either the search page OR the grid to always be shown, but not both like it does now.

I saw a post that showed how to hide the grid until they press search, but I also want the search to disappear once they have the grid, and vice versa.

Easy to do with panels or just on the search component itself as well as the results grid.

At web testing live. I just wanted the search block to always show.

I usually do exactly what you are suggesting with record/grid pages. The grid shows till a record or add new is selected. then the grid dissappears and the record update shows. After insert, update, delete, or cancel the grid comes back and the record dissappears.

That would paobably be the easiest way to do it since that will be easier than re-direct based on testing some value.

But if it must be separate pages try setting the string $Redirect to the URL you want based on the result (or non-result) of a search.

Have fun.
