 Insufficient filesystem permissions

Hi,
I got this error when upload the file to the server.
Insufficient filesystem permissions to upload the file specified in FileUpload1 into temporary folder.

What this means ? What I've done wrong ?

need to give 777 permissions on upload and temp folders....

But I do not know if this is okay.
