Hello,
Anybody know if there is a way to attach a default excel spreadsheet template for every record that is entered and then have the user click on that template, open excel, add/edit data and save it back into mysql? Seem too far fetched?
Thanks,
Sam

Not possible with "Excel", as in Microsoft Excel in a web-based public
environment. However, there are many AJAX spreadsheets available out
there that will do what you want to do. Google PHP AJAX Spreadsheets.

Did it in ASP using Office Web Components (OWC). Grid records were fetched as XML into OWC sheet because the OWC spreadsheet is a client side component. Let the user then modify the records, then stream (POST) the OWC spreadsheet data to server side as XML. Did a server side XSLT transform on the spreadsheet XML to create SQL statement for the DB.
Kind of like editable grid only with excel interface
Should be doable in PHP as well.
