Hi
I have had to add video conversion tools on many a server over the last year or so.
As anyone who has tried to install FFmpeg and Mencoder knows what a frustrating and time consuming process this is.
It is even more painful if you want to support all the various formats like MPEG4, H264 or 3g2. There is no support built into FFmpeg or Mencoder for these formats, causing long and difficult searches for codecs that actually will compile and work with FFMpeg and Mencoder.
Suprisingly little good and clear information can be found on this supbject for some reason.
Well, I decided to get everything together in one place and document how to do this difficult installation.
