I use a database table to provide the html to sandwich between the header and the footer. I use a parameter passed with the call of the program ?ID=1 to give me the key of the record to get. I recently switched from one host to another host and now only the first page is being displayed, regardless of the page # being passed. I believe it's because the record is no longer being retrieved. I get no error message about failing to connect with the database. OLD host had PHP 5.2.9 MySQL 5.1.30 and NEW host has PHP 5.2.1 MySQL 5.0.32, and I wrote the code with PHP 4 and MySQL 5. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I use a database table to hold the html stuff I will insert in a sandwich pgm. The sandwich pgm is written to display the standard header and footer always to keep it standard. Then I have a maintenance pgm to allow users to put whatever code they what in the middle. The key to the record is the page number. Then when I call the sandwich pgm it includes a parameter being passed with the page number. This way users can have maintenance to the content/presentation of their pages and have unlimited number of pages without calling in a programer. They only need to know a bit of html to do anything. What's more you only have one real program to maintain to do it.

Hi,

Sorry, I can't avoid a reply.

Are you using CodeChargeStudio (from now CCS) ?

The approach you're describing can be managed here with CCS' includable pages ir order to keep only one design.

[sarcasm = on]You've discovered the formula of warm water. Good for you.[/sarcasm]

It's usefull to use STANDARD language when talking about things. Nobody will understand "sandwich pgm" because it's a phrase that you invented yourself.

Describe your problem in terms of CCS and we'll be glad to help you.

Mel

mmm... let's see:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22sandwich+pgm%22&aq=f&oq=

It brings 9 results, from which 2 are in this forums, from the another 7 none of them is related to programming. Almost or all of then refer to 'sandwich, pgm' or some list of enumerations in another languages.

Right now you can patent the term, because nobody have write it on the web on purpose.

Hi rbkinsey, sorry about the smart replies!!!:-@

I know what you mean with regard to "sandwiching" the custom pages. I have done this many times. I often have this kind of problem. I would say that you are going to have to test that the parameter is being passed, echo it or whatever. Then you'll have a starting point.

I cant see how a different server would stop you retrieving data from the db. It'll be something really simple I'm sure...T
