I need to scan for incoming messages and on certain conditions enter
specific content into a database.
May be some has done something similar.
One option (last resort) would be an Outlook add-in but I would prefer a
better alternative.
Looking for ideas....

You could either create your own PHP email reader or use a PHP email class that was developed by someone else (customize it for your own use). I'm quite sure if you do a search you could probably find a tutorial that could get you going as well.
