Can anyone fill me in on what's different in CCS 4.2 from 4.1?
Thanks,
Dave

If I remember correctly, the introduction of Captcha was the only difference.

Yeah, I installed it, and while I've heard of others having random freezing of CCS, I never did -- until 4.2 . . .

Don't forget these features.
1. Random Crashes for no reason that causes the loss of code.
2. Fatal erros trying to publish pages. (Red Error warning in message window stating failure on step publish page)
3. When publishing the entire project, CCS hangs and can only be shut down with Windows Task Manager
4. CCS randomly decides to modify the HTML all by itself usually casuing pages to break.
5. When modifiying an existing HTML page that functions normally, CCS causes another type of failure in javascript for the page causing a javascript error on the page.
6. Due to some of these issues CCS allows you to send more time troubleshooting CCS errors instead of having to worry about your own Software Bugs.
Don't missunderstand me. I love CCS and it is one of my main development tools. But Gees. Don't ya think Yes should be focusing on these major problems???
This really is getting rediculious, the amount of time I am having to spend trying to avoid or fix bugs in CCS.

Honestly, I think CCS is just about dead. I don't think they're working on new versions, are they?
The thing is, I don't see the need for a multi-targeted development tool like CCS any longer. Most developers code for one platform. A tool like CCS can't really take full advantage of all of the features of a given platform since it has to work with them all. It also makes it really hard to fix bugs which is why the product has been plagued with them from the start.
It's a good but not great tool.

I have been using CCS for about 6-7 years. I used it for one platform only. It has been of great use. I have seen a lot of products with much higher price tags with tons of bugs.
With that in mind, I'd like to see new features & versions of CCS. I check this site at least couple of times a week and the first thing I check if there is any announcement of new version.

not sure how you can make that claim unless you have some inside info?

this I would definitely agree with. there is extreme inefficiency and opportunities for bugs with a tool that works across all these platforms. and I hope they drop every technology except the one I like to use!

I disagree. a great tool is one that helps me be more productive and effective, CCS does that in spades. if CCS is not a great tool then I would say none exist!

I've only been using CCS for about a year, but in that time, it's certainly increased my productivity several times over. If it's not a great product, it's a pretty damn good one, and I really hope that Yes keeps it going. It would be very nice to hear something from them from time to time, just so that we know there's still a heartbeat.
One further positive point on the topic is that I still get a reasonable response from their internal support folk . . .
Cheers,
Dav

Personally I hate seeing Yes systematically destroying one of the best development tools I had ever found.
And make no mistake. They are doing it to themselves.....
They just don't seem to get it any more...

1. We stopped manipulating pages through the design view, we do almost everything from the HTML view, and now it works well.
2. We do not use the built in AJAX we prefer jQuery

Hi Roeya
You are right about that. Working in HTML view has many advantages over page view.
However, I have 2 projects right now that every time I publish it, CCS for some reason changes the HTML and breaks pages randomly.
I cannot figure out how to stop it. I also get no answer from support as to what the issue is and to make matters worse I pay for the "The Developers are Looking At It" response.

I am going to hope and pray that Yes is getting ready to release a fantastic new version that will blow everyone away and the silence was necessary to keep competitors in the dark...

Please keep in mind that meny problems with CCS come not from the product itselft but myriad of small and large problems within your OS (registry problems, viruses, rootkits, malware, missing DLLs, outdated version or buggy Windows components etc.). Do not blame CCS for everything. CCS is still the best product for the price and I see the bright future for yes software. Most of you deal with one or sometimes 2 environments while they have to deal with many and creating components the work under PHP/ASP/NET/PERL,.... isn't easy job. CCS supoort is outstranding and the fact thet they only fixed bugs and didn't add new functionality makes me happy. I prefer less bugs than more functionality full of bugs.
I cross my fingers to see first CCS release fully integrated with Artisteer ! That would be a huuuge improvement.
