It is pretty simple.
Just treat your PDFs to upload the same as you would an image file for upload using the upload control
For display, just popup a new windoe to show the PDF.

It connectsn to the database just like any iother control
In the properties box select the connection, database & field you want the filename to be put into.

I still need to know what mySQL side. it doesn't look like it is uploading
the file to the field I want it to. I am trying to upload invoices for
seperate maintenance records. I created the field type as mediumblob. Also
How would I call the file to view the pdf file to view ? I tried it as image
still no luck.

Omer - many of your questions will be answerred by doing one or more of the tutorials. You will have a better understanding of what you are doing that way.

Hi
Having the PDF as an image will not display the PDF. The PDF file has to be the target of a link url.
eg: http://yourdomain.com/some.pdf
Use target="_blank" is you want it to display as a new window.
Here is an example of how those links would look. Click on the demo links.

All you gotta do is upload them with the file upload component.

Note:
If security of your uploaded PDFs is an issue, you should consider writing a page that will server up the PDFs by an ID number so the link would look like this
http:://yourdomain.com/pdsserver.php?ID=xxx
This way users would not know the directory of PDF file name
