Hello,

No much time ago I purchased a laptop with Vista because Win 7 was not available. It is a nice machine: Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM etc. Vista do not see the 64 bits neither the 4GB, its ok. But each time a Windows update was automatically done the machine got slower and slower, very frustrating.

Last week I had the feeling of going back in time to the old Win 98 performance time, too slow. So I decide to change to Win 7 Home Premium 64Bits, but I got even more frustration before I get it, just trying to purchase it. In the local stores only Home Premium 32 bits versions were available, after 2 days of search I got one store with Win 7 Pro 64, that I really do not need it, but I had to purchase it at almost double the price just to use the 64bits. Just for the same Windows NT of more than 10 years ago but with a different "makeup and dress." :-/

So I am thinking seriously in Linux, but I would like to know what would be better in terms of speed and reliability when running CCS:

1.- Host: Linux and a Virtual Machine with Win 7 and CCS.
Please note that in my Vista Host I have already a Win 7 VirtualBox and CCS 4 do not open the projects from the Vista Host file system. I work them in the Win 7/VM and then I make a backup copy to the Vista Host.

2.- Host: Win 7 with CCS and a Linux VM to begin to get used to the Linux environment and make a progressive move of my Administrative, Documents, Web Navigation, Agenda, ToDo, Notes (Outliner) and Emails Data to the new Linux applications. Suggestions of best Linux apps are welcomed.

3.- I appreciate a lot if people who already have moved successfully to Linux would like to share your:
3.1 valuable experience,
3.2 your comments,
3.3 suggestions,
3.4 which are your favorite Linux applications for each task that can be effectively done in Linux, etc.

I consider that to have to change OS and reinstall applications in less than 1,5 years is wasting money and too much time. And I read in a heading of a local magazine that M$ is going to discontinue the Windows OS line, so probably I would have to switch again in a year and half or so.

Thanks a lot
Best regards

Thanks CodeChargeMVP,

I know CCS4 works fine in Win 7, except that I was not been able to save the project to a directory in the host, which is Vista, directly form CCS4 running in Win 7 inside Virtual Box.

My original question is about 2 scenarios, both includes CCS4/Win 7, one as Host, the other as Guest, because unfortunately Yes have not ported CCS to Linux, probably it is technically very difficult.

If some one has experienced both scenarios and he has noticed an appreciable difference in CCS performance, please let me now your findings.

Best regards
