Hello Oriyomi,

When you say "enhance", do we assume that you have already got the native server "MySQL" and "Improved MySQL" connectors going and that you want something better?

Or are you asking about the Design time MySQL connector?

If it is the server connection, then what functionality does ODBC offer that Improved MySQL doesn't?

If it is Design time then you need to create a MySQL datasource after you have installed MySQL. Click "New" next to the "Use ODBC Datasource Name" in the "Modify Connection" Design tab. This will bring up your ODBC DataSource Administrator. Click through to the "System DSN" then click the "Add" button. At the bottom of the dialog that comes up you will see the MySQL ODBC Driver. Select that and you will get a configuration dialog to create your ODBC connection.

I hope this helps.

Don A

Thanks Don A,

This is quiet helpful but I could not complete the process becase I did not see MySQL ODBC Driver in system DSN.
I can see other drivers abd the bottom can see the below listed
Microsoft Visual Fospro-Treiber
SQL Native Client
SQL Server

I have wampserver running on my system can that be an issue?

I tried install another mysql on port 3308 but it makes no difference now I just intalled mysql-connector-net-5.0.8.exe

I am still not seeing myodbc driver.

What am i not doing right? and how can I setup my code charge to work with mysql databse.

Thanks

Oriyomi

Hi Oriyomi,

If you can't see the MySQL ODBC Driver then chances are that you haven't installed it.

Download it from:
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/3.51.html

After you install it should appear near the bottom of the available drivers list.

If this case is solved, could you please append the title with [SOLVED] MySql Connection so that others may find it quickly !

Thanks,
