Please I need some help setting s_date from search form to session variable.

My search form sends s_date as URL like: s_date=08%2F10%2F2010.

I want to set this as session variable so when I look for the same page it selects the s_date in the where clause but this time using s_date as session variable until I search another date on the search form.
