Out of the blue my CCS 4.3 (all updates) is not starting anymore. The Logo appears and in the message bar I see:

Verifying: XML DOM Document ... Passed

Nothing else happened. No error message. I am using it with Windows 7 Enterprise.

Tried to uninstall and re-install it without success.

Any help is appreciated !

Hello,

Exactly the same happened to me also, 2 years ago. It was on XP.
Unfortunately I do not remember what caused the problem, but it maybe help, that it is not OS dependand.

Hi Solesz,

I ran a complete diagnostic System Check to see if anything got corrupted. But it is fine. CCS has been running on this PC for 1.5 years with no problems. And it just stopped. I created a ticket with Codecharge, and I will see what they come up with.

Will keep everybody posted here about the outcome which will hopefully not be a complete reinstallation of the OS.

I understood, you already reinstalled the codecharge.
Have you also tried to clean codecharge directory after uninstalling it?

Oh, one more idea:
if you understand computers bit higher level, then you could give a try to check processes with "process explorer".

You can filter to ccs.exe, and maybe you can identify the point in the filesystem or in registry where codecharge stops responding. This Process explorer is an official microsoft add-on, you can find it here:

if your pc has enough RAM try to install VirtualBox with clean install of Win7 and install CCS inside this Virtual Machine.
it may help while support is investigating....

I´m curious, what´s your CCS version the normal one or is the professional?

Well, the problem seems to be the combination of ASP.net 4 and Internet Explorer 9 Beta. A few days ago new security updates were installed, and then CCS 4.3 Pro stopped working.

I already created a ticket with CCS, and they will investigate that. Will keep everbody posted. For now I would recommend to stay away from ASP.net 4 and IE9.

Same problem here ... Windows Vista, after last automatic update (that cannot be older than 11/22/10 - the date of last restart) caused Codecharge stop working. It screwed more things up, the system is slow as hell. There is plenty of memory and it's obviously caused by last update, most probably by Windows Defender KB 915597 (update 1.95.656.0).

Already tried all available updates, with no luck. After installing all updates I have been offered to install new release of Vista Service Pack II released this weekend - that is being downloaded right now (over wireless 3G). I will keep posted this thread as I believe there will be many more affected users.

Vista creates a restore point prior to making updates. Restore from
that and see if the update was the cause.

Well, I wasn't able to resolve my CCS starting problem, so I went and bought a new hard drive and installed everything from scratch. This time without ASP.net 4 and IE9.

Still have not received an answer from CCS. Seems like they are still investigating.

PS: My harddrive was a few years old and a new installation was overdue anyway. LOL. So I am taking it with humour.

i am having the same problem on windows 7 professional. it doesn't impress me that a product for which i pay maintenance and isn't cheap in the first place doesn't get these issues resolved in something like a timely fashion.

Well, my private investigation continues, I tried to get rid of .NET framework but with no luck. There must be something new that affects start of the Codecharge and I cannot figure out what it is. I might install it on fresh installation but would spend days to migrate the system and databases ... I don't see it as reasonable option as any new necessary update can send it to hell again.

One wonders why we are not updated by Yes Software on this matter ...
