I'm sure someone will have developed a holiday booking system or similar. Whether they want o share it is another matter.
It's fairly easy to build event calendar stuff and add users etc. so if you were wanting to see if it's possible, yes it is

i have written this tutorial for a task management system. all the concepts are quite easy to relate to your system. you can send emails to manager for approval etc. im sure you will find it helpful...

ok, ok, so i didnt write it but i reckon if worked your way thru this tutorial you could build a leave management system in a couple of days.
