I'm trying to follow instructions to recreate this and have run into some
problem:
(1) How do I add this?
<span id="store_productsproduct_name"></span>
<span id="store_productsprice"></span>
<span id="store_productsdescription"></span>
NB: There is NO Product Name item - is this an error?
(2) Step 9 AutoFill
Target Control: product_id *** I only see s_product_id & s_category_idI've
double checked everythingHave I missed something?

you dont ever have to create the html the builder will do it for you.
if its not working for you i suggest you try start a new page and recheck your steps.

I don't see any of these
id="store_productsproduct_name"
id="store_productsprice"
id="store_productsdescription"
or
<span id="store_productsproduct_name"></span>
<span id="store_productsprice"></span>
<span id="store_productsdescription"></span>
Also I don't see option for adding SPAN from tools menu either !
I do have
<tr class="Controls">
<th>Label1</th>
<td>{price}</td>
</tr>

somehow i doubt you are following the instructions...
<tr class="Controls">
<th>Label1</th>
<td>{price}</td>
</tr>
what you have there are labels only. you need to actual convert them to listboxes. please follow the examples - there os not much point in me copying and pasting them for you.

sorry Damian, I must be really thick
I printed out the instrctuions and following step by step - ticking off as I
go along
done it 4-5 times.
I just can't see where I'm going wrong
Add another record form (store_products ) to your page using the Forms tab
in the Toolbox panel. In the "Add Record Form" dialog:
a.. specify store_products in the Name field
a.. set the number of rows to 2
a.. select Label type of controls **** says label ****
a.. uncheck Allow Insert, Allow Update, Allow Delete options
Rename Label1 to price and Label2 to description.
Use the Insert Row option to insert a row between the price and description
rows.
Add Image control the new row using the image option available in the Forms
Tab of the Toolbox, then name it image_url
Switch to the HTML mode and add the span tags after the product_name, price
and product_description labels as shown in the example:
<span id="store_productsproduct_name"></span> ** Can't see where this is **
<span id="store_productsprice"></span>
<span id="store_productsdescription"></span>
I guess 100's of people have followed the instructions and managed to get it
to work...

Guess the instructions are flawed followed it step by step ticking off at each step
Even tried Examples > Ajax but that seems to be full of bugs too..

As you've seen, occasionally dependent list boxes don't work for me, but on the whole they do. I think it's more likely to be my fault than CCS.
