Hello,
I have a site that a user may spend more than 24 minutes to fill out forms. Right now, in php.ini file, I have session.gc_maxlifetime as 1440 (24 minutes as default). I am thinking of increase it but I don't know if there is anything I need to be cautious on.

Is it ok for me to increase it to 2 hours or even 4 hours?

By chance, do you know an example of javascript that pop-up to warn the user the session is about to run out?

Thanks a lot.

i see no major risk in increasing session depending on your target users access locations and practices...
this question has been asked before so you might have a bit of a search to see some solutions others have done like including a small iframe somewhre on the page that refreshes every 5mins to keep your session alive.
look at javascript.internet.com for some js ideas.
you could even have a js routine that submits the page every 20mins but set the final field to be a checkbox that is required and have it unset itself on page load so it will try to submit data but will fail and return to await further input unless the user ticks the box...
