Hello everyone,
I am considering an online accounting project that will be very much similar to xero.com in term of functionality.
Do you think codecharge is a suitable tool for initiate it?
It has to use some opensource database likes mysql or postgresql.

Absolutly YES.
It also will make developing that project much faster & easier.
Do you have experience using CodeCharge Studio?
It does have a high learning curve but is worth it.
LOL I had actually considered developing a similar application using CCS a while ago. But have just not had the time.

Hi John,
Actually I had developed some projects with CCS before. All of them are ASP with SQL or Oracle DB backend.
I am considering to outsource the main part of this so I can be more concentrate on the accounting rule that applied for my area (Vietnam).
Have you thought of est. man days before, or in general how long do you think with it take for some one that good at codecharge? Thinking of a PHP/MySQL project.

Hi
It helps alot you are familiar with CCS & if you know PHP & MySql the project will be much easier to create.
Since I am not familiar with what type accounting modules you will be creating and how full featured you are planning to make it, a little hard to estimate.
But when I explored doing something similar, I expected 2-3 months per module (Including Requirements, Development & Testing).
I was planning on developing a full suite of accounting modules.. Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Inventory, & Payroll...
This would have meant 10 to 15 months for the entire system. I was going to roll one module out at a time. I also estimated an additional 2-3 months for the client interface.
Hope that helps and these were general guesses as estimates since I never actually have had the time to start this project. Also I only planned to work on it 30-50% of my time as I have several other clients to service.
