Hello,
I am using CCS4, php in a Linux apache server.
I have created a site (using a registration example that comes with CCS) where the user has to login in order to update his/her ssn id number (of course, I customised that example to my needs).
So, they login, they change the ss number and when done, the are redirected to a Thanks! page (also they can logout if desired).
Well, it works ok in Chrome, Mozilla Firefox....but in IE8 I just write username/pass and it does nothing. I discovered that the browser was reporting a privacy issue> block that web site. I changed it in IE options (I mean, allowing cookies form everyone) and it works ok.
The problem is that this page is going to be used by people that can barely open a web browser....I donīt want them to go to Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Advenced....etc....that would be a task almost impossible for some people.
At a detailed view, IE reports that it has something to do with the site host privacy directive or so...(pardon my english) ...could it be something related to the Web Host (apache linux) configuration.
I have also to say that the site is something like http://www.whateverhere.com/123/1234/index.php but the errors report a http://the ip number here/123/1234/index.php
Now, is there any other method in CCS in order to avoid this pesky behavior in IE? Is it really CCS problem or maybe a Web host problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated....
Thanks in advance,
Mario

I'm going to lean more towards a web server configuration issue, unless
you explicitly defined ServerURL and/or Secure ServerURL values in your
CCS Project Settings.

Thanks for your reply,
yes, I have the same opinion....when I test the website in my Wamp server, it works ok with the default privacy config that comes with IE8...when I move it to the fine webserver (linux+apache), the thing starts not behaving well again...
Btw, it work perfectly well in Chrome and Firefox with the default configuration...
I specified the URL in project settings, as you told me, but no luck again when I put it in the linux server...
What it is clear is that CCS does not use cookies unless explicitly specified in the project, right?
Thanks...I keep on trying to solve it....

I don't think you should specify ServerURL nor Secure ServerURL at all.
Leave those blank. CCS will use the default values generated from
your Apache/PHP config.
For the Apache, is it a shared host, or something that you were able to
build and configure directly?

Hi datadoit, I really appreciate your help!
Well, I left the ServerURL and Secure ServerURL blank as advised with same results.
- If I test the page locally with Wamp server it goes ok (although I get a "deprecated" error, but thatīs another different issue).
- When I copy the files to the linux/apache server it works ok except from the issue with IE8 (although it works with cookies enabled.
The Linux server is dated from 2007, php 4.2...different from php file from Wamp (I am not at that computer now and I canīt remember the version, probably php 5.something. The php.ini are different, specially in the "session" section.
Yes, I can "touch" the linux server, it is in our office and it is not shared in the sense of buying a domain and some server space in a webserver hosting retailer if you were meaning that...
Thanks, I keep on perusing a solution....

If you're working with PHP 4, then you'll definitely want to make sure
your CCS Project Settings are set to such.
You should also set up your WAMP environment to match your production
environment. You can do so by getting the appropriate version addons at http://www.wampserver.com/en/addons_php.php. Then it's just a matter of
selecting the appropriate versions from your WAMP control panel. This
is something that XAMPP can't do, and why I choose WAMP over it.
I suspect that in doing so, you'll also see the same results/errors on
your local development machine. This of course doesn't fix your issue,
for which I believe a fix would be to upgrade to version 5 PHP on your
production machine, along with an Apache upgrade (if necessary) to v2.2+.

Hello,
the projects are set to php4/php5 in CCS....how do I set it just for 4 or for 5?
And yes, I totally agree to the fact that the linux server needs an upgrade....I just have to convince my boss
Thanks for your help, I will keep you posted...

In your Project Settings, under Server/Script, look for the PHP version
option.
Lemme guess... your boss drives a 1970's Oldsmobuick? :)

Ha ha....boss not convinced , wamp installed in another computer...
It was definitely a server problem, now it works like a charm in all browsers.
We are in Europe so we donīt have a 1970's Oldsmobuick, but I gotta tell you that I have lived in the US for some years and I know about what you are talking about (lol)....yeah, that could be a good car for him, I would add some wood-style panels in both sides (ROFLMAO)
Thanks for your help!!!!
