So, i've been using Codecharge since 2002. Great product, support, etc. BUT, for the past 5 years my projects have all been CCS ASP VB.net without the inMotion framework. my Current project, over 400 web pages almost everyone with custom code.
Along comes version 5, NO SUPPORT FOR .Net projects with out inMotion framework.
Oh, i suppose they will continue to support me in 4.3 for a while, but i'm sure not forever.
How would you like it if they stopped supporting your particular flavour? php perl one day they may too fall out of favour. then what.
And by the way have you seen the inMotion site where you have to go for help? hasn't been updated in over 2 years! i don't think inMotion supports inMotion. the site looks more like someone's hobby than it does like a component that a commercial product relies on.
YesSoftware CCS 5 looks good, but what about me. Did you think to let us customers know we'd have to migrate or stop using your software, i've paid maintenance for 10 years. what about me?

Well, yes, an existing project can remain asp vb.net without InMotion, but you can't create a new project. , which i suppose is a compromise.
But, having to maintain a project not using the framework and one with becomes problematic. the coding to reference a control is different in each
But my biggest complaint is the lack of support for inMotion
Here from ccs HELP:
"The InMotion Framework is developed by 3rd party and included in CodeCharge Studio only for convenience. YesSoftware offers community forums and provides limited technical support for the InMotion Framework. Further technical support and updates can be obtained from InMotion Framework developers. "
And like i said have a look at the inMotion site. Not updated in over 2 years. their support is gmail account. how much can i depend on them. I paid for support and expect support.

It looks to me as if you CAN create a new project with VB inMotion..
Secondly.. are you expecting YES software to provide support for some other 3rd party software??
Maybe they can help fix my Iphone OS as well..

I hear your pain but Yes announced a couple of years ago that for .Net,
Inmotion was going to be the only option ....

No, i don't expect them to provide support for some third party app, but neithr would i expect their product to depend on a third party product for which there is no support. and alas it does.

Your language list must be different. I only have InMotion language choices for ASP.NET.

I don't use .NET of InMotion but out of curiosity I checked this on my CCS and what I see:
- creating new project - true, only options there are ones with InMotion
- however right after you create it for example in .NET VB InMotion you are able to change language property and change it to .NET VB without InMotion
Have you contacted the support? Maybe it's the case of option missing in project creation menu? Full functionality could still be there...

Yes, their reply, and the reason for my rant, is going forward New projects can only be generated as .Net apps with inMotion framework .
And you can't unmake it an inMotion framework project, even though it might appear you can.
Existing 4.3 without inMotion can be upgraded to 5.x. without.

Yes, I saw that too, and it confused me for maybe 10 minutes. But after moving forward, as you said, you can then change the language to an 'ordinary' .net solution. That is, if you consider a .net app, which is difficult to move into Visual Studio, 'ordinary'.
Anyway, I love CCS5 so far. There have been only the challenges of setup issues, partly related to newer versions of the jdk and of IIS.
But CCS5 has been terrific so far; the big test will be how well it does on real applications.

Just wanted to relay what yessoftware aid about this matter:
thank you for your interest in CCS 5.
---------------------------------
1. CCS 5 does not include the VB.NET and C#.NET code generating patterns, you can create InMotion projects only.
However you can convert CCS 4 .NET projects into CCS 5 format and they will work.
---------------------------------
Not sure exacltly what this means, but I do not see the benefit of converting to CCS5 and staying withPlain .NET When the Code generators do not work.

I think they are mistaken. Both VB.NET and C#.NET are available, AFTER
you create the project. They don't seem to be available DURING the
initial creation of the project.
