I have passwords (natch) on my server database, but not on my design database on my windows pc. When testing, codecharge objects if I leave the login id and password on my server data base in the 'Properties' screen. Why? What can I do? I maintain a large number of systems on various Apache servers. As it stands, I've got to look up the production password and id, re-enter them on the 'Properties' screen, recompile, ftp to the host, and then erase the password and id and recompile when I want to switch to testing. Seems a bit awkward. Please keep it simple. I am old and not too bright. Thanks.

Rick,
as I see you build site to test on the local machine, then upload to server, don't you?
CC and CCS requires two connections to db:
- for Design time. You may connect to different db during design time or you can connect to remote or local db. This connection is used when you design project. Server side connection isn't required on this stage.
In addition design time connection doesn't affect on the code, but it affects on generated sql.
- Server part connection. It is need and used for live site. You may not set it up during design time, but do not forget to enter setting before uploading site to server. These settings let CCS generates correct connection code and you do not need to modify anything.
And the last. You can use one db (e.g. Access) for design time and the other one with the same structure for server part.
