I'm thinking of purchasing CCS and have downloaded the evaluation version. I have 2 questions for board members before actually whipping out my credit card.
a. Is there a competing product for CCS or is it totally unique?
b. In the eval version, the undo button doesn't seem to do anything much. Is it common?

Hello,
--------- quote --------------
Go to http://www.hallogram.com/menus/RAD_Tools.html and feast your eyes!
------------------------------

There are no products listed on that page that offer functionality that match the functionality and price-point of CCS, unless you include CC, which is on the Hallogram list(why not CCS??).

The functionality of DB2K seems very exciting and the price is compareable to CCS. Haven't tried it yet though I'm going to threaten the boss with a bit of GBH on Monday to get him to approve purchase of a single DB2K licence.

I would recommend buying CCS and spending much time learning it, the product is evolving and the basic idea is brilliant.

Greetings,
Dave

Hi,

Look at www.asp.net and found out that the free Microsoft asp.net editor/generator is doing the job, but not with that functionality as with CCS and even CC for Asp.net solutions.

Just download the competition and see why the purchase of CC / CCS is a bargain for you, your projects and your company.

So no discussion buy your CC / CCS and make profits from the start after downloading. You may buy CC even from the GMS online shop: www.gmsbv.nl/shop if you like.

Regards,
Marco

I have tried two *competing* products, db2asp at $395.00 and ASPMaker at $19.95, both of which do a fine job for what they were intended to do, but I have yet to find a competing product that meets anything like CCS. My ONLY complaint is that I would like to use it on both my desktop and laptop, and they offer no second computer fee. I would be required to purchase a full license, and I really don't want to do that. I would like to purchase a license at a reduced price since I am an existing customer. I wish they would rethink their stand, and until they do I will continue to look for something comparable. I would certainly recommend that you make the pruchase, you will never be sorry.

Surprised to see no-one has mentioned Macromedia Dreamweaver MX. I tend to spend 50% of my time using DWMX and 50% using CCS. They are both fantastic products although CCS is more limited on the page layout side whereas DWMX can handle everything. It's quicker to get a DB enabled site up with CCS than DWMX, although CC2 is easier still.

DWMX can produce code in ColdFusion, ASP, JSP, ASP.NET and PHP. A number of extensions should be coming very soon for it to expand it even further.

It will be interesting to see how the two products fair against each other.

This was the case with CC but NOT CCS, I asked this question to the support team and this is the reply I got.

My question:
Can you please carify, as a developer I'm not allowed to install one license both on a work pc and notebook, even though they used by one person and never in use at the same time?

Their answer:
The terms of usage of CCS are explicitly stated in the license.txt file of the installation as well as in the first installation window that appears before installing the software. The following is an extract from the license.txt file.

My Question:
so did the policy change between cc2.05 and ccs ?

Their answer:
It not a matter of changing. The two are not similar products. CodeCharge 2.0 is a distinct product and CodeCharge Studio is distinct too. There was no predecessor license agreement for CodeCharge Studio from which to change from.

So their you go, they went from an excellent developer friendy policy to a restrictive policy, almost microsoft like one.

I guess that will teach me to read those license agreements more carefully.
Of course, I have to BUY it to read that license.

Starting to have some regrets here....

Hi, I was able to install CCS on 3 computers (work, home and laptop). Is this illegal?

In case you missed it during the install, check out the Help file, Appendix A, End User License Agreement for CCS 1.0 states the following:

2. USE AND EVALUATION PERIOD. You may use one copy of this Software on one client computer. A copy of this Software is considered in use when loaded into temporary memory (i.e., RAM) and/or installed on a permanent storage device (i.e., hard disk, CD-ROM, etc.). You may also use a copy of the Software on a home or portable computer, provided only one copy of the Software is in use at a time. You may use an evaluation copy of the Software for only thirty (30) days in order to determine whether to purchase the Software.

Interesting ....

That doesn't mathc the licence.txt in the CodeChargeStudio directory?

see below, not the 3. instead of 2.

3. USE AND EVALUATION PERIOD.
You may install and use one copy of this Software on one client computer for software development purposes. Subsequent installations require you to obtain additional licenses unless you are transferring this Software to another computer.
You may not network this Software or otherwise use it on more than one computer or computer terminal at one time.
You may not lease or otherwise rent the Software, but you may transfer the Software and accompanying written materials on a permanent basis provided the recipient agrees to the terms of this Agreement.
You may not sublicense or permit simultaneous use of the Software by more than one user.
If you are evaluating this software, you may use an evaluation copy for the maximum of thirty (30) days in order to determine whether to purchase this Software.
