Trouble getting 5.0 to work in Win 8

I had 5.0 working at one point. I have WAMP server on Windows 8 laptop. Now, I cannot use the record or grid builders. They do not seem to make the database connection.

When I try to use record builder in a page, it will not show datasource, just a dark line. On the same page, I can put a form in with a text box and set the connection and datasource in the properties and have the data pull. I can also put a record in using Forms>>Record. In the record builder, I get no data to show.

Any thoughts? I have submitted this to support, but I do not get any return emails from them, nor from the auto system. I have never had trouble contacting them, so not sure why I am not getting any answers now. I reopened an old ticket to see if that works.

Thanks

Chris

Having issues with 5.1 on Win8 and it is unusable so far.

New project can't make working ODBC connection and is very, very slow running in general.

I reverted to 5.0 for now.

Contacting support with my issues/ Will advise.

I am actually having the same problem with 5.0. I have an open support request, but no replies other than "the developers are working on it"

In my particular case I found that CCS 5.1 was having a problem with my TrendMicro Internet Security. I found this via task manager activity. If I stop the trend software it runs fine with it in place it is unusable!

I just tried upgrading trend software to latest and while better it still is no good.

Interestingly on my desktop it works with Trend in place!

Something it does not like on my laptop and have yet to find it.

Database is local on PC and laptop? Maybe different security settings in antivirus and TrendMicro blocks outgoing connections. You can enable antivirus and add CCS 5.1 to ignore list, if it blocked by mistake.

I contacted Trend re problem on my laptop and they provided a process to remove the entire application and related driver and then re-install.

I did as directed and now CCS works on my laptop without any more problems!

It did work without problem on my desktop so obviously something incompatible on how this was installed and set up. I include direction it obtained from Trend should anyone else have this problem.

*** Trend Instructions that fixed my problem:

We need to make sure first that your Trend Micro is using the latest version of Trend Micro which is the 2014 version. Please follow the steps that I will provide to you for the rest of this email.

Please check the link below to use our Diagnostic Toolkit to remove remnants of the old version:
http://esupport.trendmicro.com/solution/en-us/1061167.aspx

Once you run the toolkit, please follow the steps below to use the driver remover:
http://esupport.trendmicro.com/solution/en-us/1060188.aspx

After restarting the computer, you may now try installing the 2014 version by checking the link below:
http://files.trendmicro.com/products/Titanium/TTi_7.0_MR_Full.exe

Make sure to Save the file first on your Desktop and press Run after the download.

I did finally get 5.1 working on win8.1. The issue I had was with the fact that I had 64bit system. CCS does not work with 64 bit very well, so had to install odbc drivers in 32 bit and then things started working.
