Hi,

Is it possible to connect a live site to a local database?

I already got the project running on a local machine and the live page connects perfectly with the local database. But when i copy the site to the host (online) i get an error (500).

Any idea?

Best regards

Not really without some mucking around with firewalls (easy to do badly) to let internet traffic into your computer (security risk to your PC). And then you would need to leave your local machine on all the time (annoying). Not recommended.

You should publish the database to the online host and change the Live connection settings ("Server" tab in the connection property dialog) to point to published database. Depending on the Host you might have to change the Connection settings > Database Library as some options you might have on Dev Local machine might not be on Host.

Cheers

Eric
