Nicole offered a little help on this issue of mine. I didn't explain it well and am still dead in the water.

In modifying the bookstore, I use clothing as products. Each product may have different sizes and colours specific to it. I want to be able to list in a listbox only those sizes and colours specific to an individual product for the user to select before checkout.

I'm stuck on this one and would appreciate any advice, example or any help for that matter.

Stew

Stew,

Hi there, your situation sounds very similar to a situation which I had to sort out with a recent application - my scenario was as follows: in my organisation we have 27 Business Units scattered around England and Wales, the workforce at each of these Business Units are split into work groups and teams. What I needed to do was by the user choosing a Business Unit from a dropdown list only the respective groups and teams for that Business Unit was then displayed in the 'Group' and 'Team' dropdown lists, if the Entire Organisation was choosen then no groups or teams would be displayed.

Before I go any further, is this the type of scenario which you require additional assistance with?

Yes, I believe you are on the right track.

If you can give me some help on this, I would appreciate it.

hi all!

I think this thing is a killer!... I've been on a round trip in virtually every underground stop I know but no one seems to hit home this problem that surfaces in virtually every codecharge forum... there surely must be someone out there who'se got this working!!! selecting a country and the page refreshes to load only that countries cities!... guys!... there must be a guru who's been there done that...

Cheers!
Dunkie

PS: Seriously waiting for a working sample/explainantion onmsee@dunkie.net and a post on the forum would go a long way to help everyone else???

http://www.gotocode.com/art.asp?art_id=90&

works in CC but no idea for CCS.

It offers a solution to for 2, 3 or 4 linked listboxes and works in search and record forms in Insert/Update. I've used it over and over, with minimal hand coding.

This component, and updateable grids, are such basic needs - how do we get Yes Software to put builders into both products?

Well it seems others are interested in this as well. I have searched the web for answers to this and have found none so far. I visit other shopping web sites and I see what I want to do in use all over the place.

Are we all stuck on this issue?

I use it in my project. Example:
In my project at some point I have to choose a hardware part. It goes as follow:

First I choose Manufacturer, the form refreshes and displays a second dropdown with all categories that belong to that manufacturer, (a-open: cd-rom, motherboard...), after selecting the category the form refreshes again and displays the final list of products, belonging to that manufacturer and category.

Is this what u are searching for?

For a view at my project mail me:bart.verstricht@pandora.be

I'm not too sure, but I bet that if you created a table like the "categories" table in the cc classifieds sample - you know, the one that has "parent categories". Depending on how many items you are dealing with - this can be alot of records or just a few. It would probably work though!
You can download the sample (if you don't already have it) and look at the db to see what I'm talking about - and then of course taylor your forms as needed.

good luck,
Robert

Hi Stew,

For list boxes, if you want to add a new one to CCS you need to add a new table please follow below.

Just create a table, does not matter what you call it - Then put an ID (primary key call it what you want) Make new fields ie: Size, color (I Am Aussie so I will spell it colour) any way - after you save the table populate it with the sizes, and colours, then publish the DB to server.

I am gussing you have added the new fields in the DB table you need to populate, if you have open the page you want to place the size & colour selections, click on the Toolbox > Form >Add List Box then click on the new list box, then click on Connection - then click on List data Source to find the new table you created, Select the table then click on the bound and text coloum and you are set.

If you have any more problems please email me heredesignet@ozemail.com.au and I will send you a working copy.

Hope I have been of some help. Regards mark
