ccs crashes all the time. i cut-and-paste, it crashes. i save, it crashes. i publish, it crashes. hell, it even crahses when i'm nowhere near my computer.

what can i do to help? can i debug? can i trace the errors? do i need to strip and update my system again? what can i do?

i really, really, really do like this tool and i really, really, really do want to buy it but i can't justify the cost for an app that won't stay up.

help?

No problem by me.

Maybe one of your hardware devices is defective or you have a bad or corrupt driver for one of your devices (Videocard for example).

Maybe u should check for virusses. Are there any other programs with problems? Is your system stable?

Well you may need more Ram, or HDD space, or your OS is not runnin right. Drivers not installed right for something, like he said above.

I have a 1400mhz system, with 512mb Ram, 120gb of HDD in Raid 0, 128mb Ti4400 Video card......Codecharge rarely crashes on me, by rarely I mean it only crashes because I have about 50 other programs open with it, and it's my fault. I run Windows XP Pro as my OS.

I also run CCS on my other computer which is 700mhz PIII, 392mb Ram, 20gb HDD, Windows 2k pro, and CCS runs great on that system also. Once again, if I have Fireworks, dreamweaver, CCS, and Lotus notes open, it may crash. You just have to make sure you aren't paging all of your memory to your hard drive.

Take for instance Java Forte or Netbeans, those programs alone use about 120mb of memory, CCS doesn't use near that and they are doing the same thing.....well a little different but still, you get the point.

Hope this helps.

Yep, if any normal app is crashing like that, it's probably a configuration problem with your computer. Also, I personally have yet to crash CCS even once on my Athlon 2100 w/512Mg RAM with Win 2k Pro. And I've been using it for several months now.

It could be your swap file. Try cleaning out your temporary directory and
do a scan disk on all your drives. Defragging wouldn't hurt. Of course do a virus scan.
Also try downloading adaware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/. You could have
spyware loaded.

If this fails, uninstall CCS, blow away the directory, and re-install it.

i reformatted my hd tuesday so i should not have any spyware/viruses. and defrag should be fine as well. still, i will try out your suggestions just to make sure.

thanks.

You're not by chance running Windows ME, are you? It crashed on me all the time with that OS. I just upgraded (for many reasons) to XP Pro. CCS hasn't crashed once since then.

CCS crashes on me from time to time, but it's only when I have both CCS and VS.NET open. It seems to crash when there file sharing issues - understandable - but a more graceful 'exit' would be better.

my os is win2000 pro. not sure if there are any issues with ccs and that. i would be more than happy to switch to whatever ccs' preferred os is.
