H E L P !!!!

I'm not a code writer but I have tinkered. I have a linux system running Redhat 6.0, perl 5, MySQL 3.23 and Apache 1.23 (I think, whatever the latest version is).

I generated the .cgi and .html files for UNIX. I installed the .cgi files in /home/httpd/cgi-bin and the .html files in /home/httpd/html. File permissions are set to 777 and owned by root. I have also placed the .html files in the cgi-bin dir, but no good either. I keep getting error 404. I can run e-classifieds free version and other cgi scripts with no problem.

I notice in the cgi files genertated by code charge there are no path statements. Is this right? Doesn't seem so. Also, do I need to (manually)create the database for MySQL? A file named Classifieds_MySQL.sql is in the Classifeds directory under SQL. What is this for?

I'm missing something but can't figure it out. I've spent almost two days on this. I'd really love to get this up and working as I want to put a classifed ads webpage up but can't find anything pre-made to suit me.

TIA
Nicole

Hello,
First you should create MySQL database and tables by yourself, CC cannot do it for you. You’ll find <example_name>_MySQL.sql files in the SQL folder of each CC example. This file contains mysql script to create tables. You can run it against mysql.
He second point: you should specify file output format at site properties Publishing tab (Unix in your case). As usual it is: #!/usr/bin/perl and it should be specified at the top of each .cgi file.
And probably the last. The .cgi and .html files should be located into the same folder on server.
