Hi All,

I posted here several days ago that I will contact YES but then went out for the weekend and just got to read their reply!
My question to support was "When do you expect the next version release of CCS and have you seen the recent postings at GotoCode.com? Should users expect a response from you?"

The reply from Adam was:
"We are preparing a new Studio version for December release and we even hoped to have the Beta version in November, however the engineers could not commit to any specific dates and we do not want to announce it prematurely.

Thank you for bringing the forum discussions to our attention. The public Forum is meant exclusively for users to collaborate, although possibly we need to make this more clear on our Website.
Our general policy is not to participate in non-technical discussions and we treat as high priority only those support questions that are submitted directly to us. I believe that this is quite normal and even though we could be more active in answering technical questions, it is rare that the management of any company makes general announcements or posts news on the Forums. Please also note that couple of my colleagues are answering some of the technical questions posted on the forum on regular basis.
I am also not sure if you tried to point us to any specific list of questions on the Forum? I rather found comments about the lack of new knowledge base articles and news in general. We will be adding new Knowledge Base articles shortly, while general news should be made via official channels to all users once we can commit to specific release dates. I will also ask our management for feedback and will suggest to at least update the 'News and Updates' section of our support Website with whatever information may already be available."

Best

Excellent. Now that all that is cleared up, it would be great if the forum as a whole could stop the complaint sessions that last 30 posts long, and just get back to tackling technical issues as they come up.

There are people willing to help in the community, but if all they see is posting with no real questions or specific problems, and just bouts of complaining, well, I wouldn't blame them at all for just ignoring and going on to some other site that can help their own development.

Thanks Donald R
Perhaps YS will one day send someone on a CRM course :-))
Imagine what that will do for their name/product awareness, sales and happier and informed customers

Complaining about what dissatisfies us, legitimate users of a commercial product, no matter what level we users are at, is more than just our right, it is simply our obligation.

So if some persons find it bad that there are 30 replies to a subject that means basically 'complaining', that's IMHO too bad. Because if a posting get so many attention to generate 30 replies or so, much more than any technical question posted in this forum - except of course for the not so intelligent postings where each and everyone in this forum posts his/her email to get some snippet,..... - then my opinion is that this is really because something is not so right!

The first thing is that it is really not the best way to know when a product is going to have a new version, or even if it is still alive
!!!..., through other users of the product and not by the company itself.

So first of all, I would like to thank DR for the attention to copy everybody in this community about the status of CCS and the plans of YesSoftware, since Yes don't seem very fond of doing this by themselves (this would be also nothing more than their obligation).

In what concerns this forum, I copy here my 'complaints' (not without accompaning suggestions!), which I posted as the 30th reply or so, so maybe not all users did see it . Maybe what we can get with all this 'complaining' and 'whining' is at least a better application to discuss our matters and find the answers we need with no need to ask the same dumb stupid questions over and over again or take the precious time of other users or the developers.

So I quote here what I have written about this forum:

"Point # 4 (this Forum application sucks): IMHO, most of the questions I have, even those which are answered somewhere in here, are NEVER GOING TO BE FOUND INSIDE THIS FORUM, for the simple reason that I cannot find them... That is another reason why questions keep being asked again and again and again: they are not in the docs, they *are* in the forum, they just can't be found....

FYI: I myself stopped looking at this forum. My two reasons: 1) When I first try to search for information I almost never find the info I'm looking for, although it might be hidden somwehere in here. 2) If then I post a question, I normally don't get any useful response if I get any at all. So, I've been addressing my questions (even the FAQs) to YesSoftware directly until my support period ends. These questions are answered there, their contents never get published here, so that I solve my problem and lots of others don't until they ask directly YesSoftware, and...... It seems logical: if YesSoftware could have put just a little bit more effort in providing a more useful forum tool with better search capabilities and differentiation of distinct categories (e.g. CC x CCS), maybe YesSoftware would have more time to work on bug corrections instead of being busy answering FAQs.

Suggestions: 1) Lets be honest: this forum sucks! You can't find what you are looking for! So my suggestion is to substitute this application for a better and professional one. It does not have to be built with CC or CCS, we just want a more professional application that suits our needs. Maybe YesSoftware could just use a commercial or OpenSource product with better search capabilities, since this forum, as it is, is at most of the time just a waste of time... 2) Split this forum into two: one for CC and one for CCS (even better: split for different target languages - ASP, PHP, JSP...). "

My 1 cent of contribution.

Maybe the answer to my needs regarding this application is already ready, and it might be www.codechargers.com. I am going to register there and start using it right away.

The main problem with this forum here is its very bad search capabilities, which almost always makes us loose precious time trying to find answers and almost never getting to find them...

The hard work was already done by the user who setup this other discussion forums at http://www.codechargers.com/, lets now give it a try, and maybe in no time this other board gets to be more 'official' than this one (more professional it already seems to be, just by the first impressions that I've got: it really seems that it will be much easier to find info there than in here).
