I have an asp site with both a default.asp page and a default.html page. The site works well whenever on testing I access the default.asp page. However, once it is uploaded, the server regards the default.html page as the homepage and the default.asp page is not shown. What should I do?

That is controlled by the web server. If you have access to the documents section of the web server, add default.asp (if its not there) and move it up to the top so it will be selected first.
if you don't have access to the web server you need to ask your hosting provider to add default.asp to the document list.

You could try another option : by linking default.asp to start.html (there is no technical reason to keep same root name for the two files).
on my web site www.cybernetic.tv I have an index.php linked to Default.html (but due to the capital 'D', Default.html is not the one used by default).
