Is it possible to grab user information from another DB to and then incorporate it into a project.

I have a user table (with all the pertinent information like user name and passwords) in another application with a mysql database, that I want to only use that table, to use as authentication to use with a project created by CCStudio.

Say I have a user named Admin with a md5 password In one db, how would one go about say using the bookstore example, to authenticate admin of that db to use to edit or admin the bookstore using the bookstore db?

If i dont make sense, please let me know and i'll try to explain it better.
