Am I the only one or is beta2 just a terrible mistake? My beta1 projects are unrecognizable, starting a new project and editing html with dreamweaver will cause crashes and again will make the page unrecognizable. I wrote support and hope I will be allowed to reinstall beta1 wich was solid as a rock for me because frankly I cant work with beta2.
I did a clean install of beta2 and had to reactivate so I hope uninstalling beta2 and reinstalling beta1 won't mean I cant reactivate my copy of CCS

Ron,
I just upgraded and published an existing project and my Login redirect quit working on my Windows, IIS, PHP & MySQL server. The Login is successful and I can then go back to a menu and access any page with restrictions with no problem. The Login just won’t redirect back to back to a restricted page after the Loing screen. Hopefully this is just some setting I have overlooked in PHP or MySQL. I did work before the upgrade…
On the other hand when I published the same project to my Lynux, Apache, PHP & MySQL all seems to be working fine.
I will keep testing but I have not experienced any of the problems as you have reported. If you have any suggestions regarding my Windows server Login redirect issues they will most be welcome.

in beta1 going to the commom.php page and deleting the content of the page and then regenerating the common page fixed a lot of trouble for me maybe it will work for you in beta2?

Well doesn't look like beta2 was functioning at all so I'm back to beta1 and everythings fine now. Guess I'll have to wait for the final release. To bad realy would have liked to try beta2 since I have excelent experiences with beta1.
Anybody else run in to trouble with beta2?
I'm on:
win2k
php
mysql
apache
using dreamweaver for html editing
would be interested in knowing if anybody else had trouble.

No troubles (so far), except that my previous updatable grid that didn't work with a join (one or more) in beta 1, now is working... half. In beta 1 I couldn't even load the page because of a "parse error". Now the page loads like it should be, but when I make a join, the update doesn't work anymore.
I also noticed when creating a table alias in visual query builder I ran into some troubles to (database table(s) not found.
But except of this, my project works like it should.

I ran across the following problems:
- With Beta 1, the picking of additional tables at the Visual Query Builder stopped working. So I tried Beta 2 (not a fresh install), and that seemed to start working again, as in 1.0.7
- OTOH, I am having to almost rebuild the entire project. Some pages just stopped working. The upgrade process somehow messed with pages.
- One particular problem I am having is specifying an initial date and a final date to search the database (I build the query inside the before select event). Now it stopped working and it seem to be related to date formatting, although I specified it as before.
I am using MySQL, PHP, Solaris, and on my local machine I run CCS over Win-XP.
Thank god......... If I were to receive for all the time I have already spent in this project....

Well here we are again. I believe that YS stated that projects created with previous versions may have to be rebuild. Also it was stated that this is just another BETA, so try at your own risk. Anything previously done with the "Beta1" may have to be re-build.
This why I belive to make smaller update/upgrade patches to a product instead of GIANT new BETA releases. It appears that YS, since it is a small developer, does not have the in-house resources to do internal testing prior to their releases. A lot of folks complain about software but apart from Microsoft very few developers make the public their "testers".

You shouldn't read my post as a critisism to Yes software. I think they are doing a great job. Yes has a tradition, as young as the product is, to let users test the beta's. I think that's great. This way they get input from users before releasing the final program and it allows users to experiment with exciting new features. I knew fully well that working with a beta is a risk and I do not blame Yes in any way for my troubles. These troubles have dissapeared after reinstalling beta1 wich I use with great satisfaction.
I hope they will continue to let users test beta versions of new releases and hope that my troubles with beta2 will help them make CCS 2.0 as good a product as the current stable version already is.
If they hadn't released the beta version you would probably complain about the time between releases. This is a no win situation for Yes and I therefore aplaud them all the more for being so bold to share beta releases with a public that is now known for it's critical posture.

Those downloads do not mention XP, and trying to install the 2000 version doesn't work, does anyone know where to get the XP versions?

Hi,
the scripting thing is from the year 2001, is it true that xp has no problem with it?
Rene
P.S. If no problems, i'll install the beta 2, otherwise scared to do so.

Installing the windows scripting stuff didn't help me at all. Still using beta1
I hope beta1 projects will be usable in CCS 2.0 when it comes. Or I'll be left with a lot of useless projects.

======================= SO FAR SO GOOD =================================
Hey guys, I am running CCS2beta2 on WinXP-Pro with IIS 5.0 and MSAccess-XP using ASP without ANY problems. Where I used to have problems with Beta1 there are not any problems with Beta2.
======================= SO FAR SO GOOD =================================
I am about to start working with Perl-5 and MySQL on WinXP-Pro. Will see how that goes.
I do not use PHP. I have been in software business almost 40 years so at this point I don't care to start all over with PHP.

I have had some of the same problems mentioned with Beta 2 and have had to give up and go back to the very stable Beta 1.
I use WinXP-Pro, IIS 5.2, MSAccess XP, ASP
After creating a new project using the application builder in Beta 2
1 Visual Query builder only shows 1 table.
2 In a search page the search parameters are not listed in the 'Where' box of the grids Data Source dialog.
3 In code view of the asp page, right clicking and selecting copy, sometimes causes CodeCarge to imedietly close with no error message.
It looks as though Beta 2 has introduced more problems than it has solved.

RonB,
I like your enthusiasm but please don't forget that this is a beta version and you are testing and reporting for free.
When you calculate all the aspects the product and it's support are average.

Well maybe you didn't completely understand me. I've been a customer since CC and started working with CCS with the first beta. I have always enjoyed their level of support and cant say it's average at all.
As for the product being average.. tell me wich other product for rapid webapplication development comes even close to CCS. Don't get me wrong I'm not a "Yes cant do anything wrong in this century" kind a guy. It's just that my experience with support on software has never been as good as it is with Yes.
The only way to get this level of support from let's say microsoft is by paying thrue the nose for it. If only they would get the documentation on that same level I'll be a realy happy camper.
I started with CC without any knowledge of php what so ever. It basically thought me php just by looking at the code it produced(and reading a few books
CCS is starting me off on the wonderfull, all be it sometimes frustrating, road, of OOP PHP. I havent seen another piece of software that will allow me to change the scripting language of my app. with just a few clicks. If htat's average... bring it on!!
Jeez it does start to look like an add campaign.. oh well

Having bought and used the product since CC as well I can add that I share RonB's sentiments.
Ron, I know that YS is on the case, but if I can help you in any way : you know where to find me. I had some initial struggles with beta2 but its now running on a non-critical PC. I don't dare to test any live sites yet, but if you need any tests done I can put up a test-site for us.
Good luck

I've installed Service Pack 3 for win2k and I'm going to try beta2 again tomorow. I'm happy coding with beta1 wich runs solid as rock. Yes is on the case and I'm confident they will solve the problem. Since the upload component isn't in beta 2 I'm not that eager to risk messing up my companies intranet with beta2. I'll just patiently wait till 2.0 comes out or Yes will have solved the problem.
