I have just upgraded my RedHat to 8.0 and I now have trouble with the MyODBC connection which was working previously. When I check the database setup and CC and test the connection, I get the following error:
Microsoft Data Link Error
-------------------------
Test connection failed because of an error initializing provider [TCX][MyODBC] Lost connection to MySQL server during query.
What could be the problem? I would appreciate any help on this. Thanx.

I would look into security (firewall etc), and MySQL security...
Probably there.

The problem is in the rpm's RedHat ships for MySQL.
Replace /usr/libexec/mysqld with one from the MySQL site.
