Just extending the post to people who may otherwise not read it, www.malevolus.com/WYSIWYG11.zip is basically htmlarea from interactivetools.com, but it has a built in image uploader and browser, via clicking on the image button, as well as being able to link to urls and drag and drop.
I found it on their forum, so I cannot take any credit for it, apart from my extra text file, which is pretty useful!
The editor is VERY easy to set up, see http://codechargers.net/ccs/kb.php?language_id=1&category_id=40&event_id=58
and if you follow the instructions in the zip file you should have no problems, I had a few minor probs but they were sorted in a half hour or so.
By the way the image uploader is in another language, but you should get the idea!
see it working via www.malevolus.com/forum
Hope this is useful and answers a few prayers! It answered a few of mine!
See ya
Simon

Part Deux,
Here is a pretty complete and helpful list of inline Wysiwyg editors:
http://www.bris.ac.uk/is/projects/cms/ttw/ttw.html
And my personal favorite (because of the more advanced upload, - my images go into a MySQL database)(oh, and it's a good PHP incorporation)...
