why do no update or delete buttons show on my record form?

i should have mentioned that i'm using php and mysql
i've just discovered that if i change to asp & templates and access it works!!
in other words i get update and delete buttons on my form.
would this have to do with the data file structure/setup?

CC or CCS?
I am using CCS 2.0 (have used beta 2,3 and 4)and haven`t seen this problem. My projects are mainly in PHP4 or JSP.
