I have developed applications in MMDW Ultradev4 and am interested in having a fast development environment to support ASP & PHP projects. I see many features that make CCS very attractive to meet my needs. Many of our future projects will require DW design support done on a MAC.
Compared to Ultradev, the CCS 2 interface is fairly simple to interact with.
Are there any reasons not to buy/use CCS 2?
Any feedback is appreciated!

My recommendation would be the download the trial and do a test-drive. Personally, I don't think UltraDev4 can compare to the wide range of languages and features in CCS except that is it better intergrated with dreamweaver.

To develop professional applications you need pro-tools:
CCS for web DB RAD & DWMX (UD4) for design tune-ups.
DW writes messed-up "spagetti code" (ASP/PHP) - just try CC/CCS to see the difference.

I own Ultradev 4, Dreamweaver MX, CC, CCS1, and CCS2. The Macromedia products still seem geared toward design more than application development. Code Charge Studio is a code generation tool and the best one for the price as well. I have been using all of theses tools for some time now and I continue to use Code Charge for the application design and then use other software, if needed, for additional user interface design.

I would advise Erics strategy at present
CodeCharge -> UD or MX
as CCS present release 2.0 has many unresolved issues
However in the long run I recommend CCS as these issues will eventually be resolved.

See the posting "CCS erases custom events code". There are many issues that may result in regret if you chose CCS.
Another license forgone, YES?

I advise you seriously think about what it is you want to do,after that you can think about what tools you need to do the job. CCS is a professional tool that has a steep learning curve. It's great for coding php, asp etc but I wouldn't dream of setting aside my dreamweaver mx for all the html layout stuff. CCS doesn't even come close to being in the dreamweaver league when it comes to html. Dreamweaver doesn't even come close to being in the CCS league when it comes to generating scripting code.
Only start with CCS if you have serious plans for using a serverside scripting language supported by CCS. If you do, CCS is the tool. Havent seen anything come close even if there are some minor bugs to be ironed out.

Well, just loke RonB I have all the tools as well. For now CCS_2 has too many bugs, especially in the generated ASP code. I don't use PHP even though I am looking into it. Still, I prefer ASP and/or Perl.
CC_2.0.5 with DreamweaverMX is the way to go for small to medium projects.
Also, as I stated on another occasion, CC_2.0.5 will generate ASP-2 which is the highest rev supported in the ChillisoftASP (now part of Sun) running on Linux.
