Hi,

I would like to get the value of URL typed by the user and use that before displaying the first page (default page). For example, I would like to get 'www.xxx.com/name' and execute an SQL using the value of 'name'. I am open to both ASP and PHP environment. Please help with ideas of code samples.

Thanks in advance

Kam

I'm trying hard to get what yiy're saying but if I understand you correctly it's just not possible. Assuming the default page is the opening page of the site. You are asking the server to use information it doesn't have to get some other info. How do you think you will handle the name bit? the first bit is simple www.xxx.com will open index.html/php/asp depending on the settings of the webserver. Let's set some examples and maybe you could clarify what you think will happen:

www.xxx.com/joe
www.xxx.com/harry
www.xxx.com/mary

What I think will happen is a 404 error (page not found)

Maybe I'm wrong and I'm missing something?

Ron
