I am testing CC and CCS for usage internally, externally as well as rollout to our partner network. We are considering being a partner and reseller with YesSoftware. This is of course dependant on testing the software as well as the support network which they have in place.

A few requests

1) i have a special need to combine all 15 of the examples here into one cohesive web space which i would like to run from a single database. you would think that those examples would be offered in CCS and CC as a complete toolset in addition to the individual tools but alas they are not.

If you open one of these examples in CC then import the other sites all overwrite each other and if you choose not to overwrite they do not function properly

can anyone assist in this

2) i have downloaded the gotocode site also and am having trouble opening it in CCS it turns out to be a CC file and requires conversion once converted it does not function properly until the data component is corrected.

3) my overall intent is to create a templated site which has the maximum combined functions available within all 15 of the examples.

if possible could one of the techs at Yes combine these elements in a gotocode site template and email and or post as i assume most if not all of the community could use this as a template for all sites.
it would make a wonderful web site template and would allow most if not all of us to really showcase what CCS can do.

Thank you in advance for your prompt consideration

P.S.

i have read the majority of the posts and i agree and disagree with quite a few as may be expected

i have a few suggestions to the community and to the YesSoftware Support team

1) If everyone of the posts suggests examples are a good way to learn (and i agree) then the community has to share some responsibility -- I would suggest that we as part of this community should offer to upload as many working examples as possible to the gotocode site this would help all the newbies and would also show yessoftware what we as a group are actually using the software for and they can then add and adjust feature sets to meet those demands.

2) If the community feels that yessoftware is overloaded with requests for help ( and i agree ) maybe some of us would be willing to share the load a bit i for one have no problems with this i have been testing hardware and software beta and alpha products for almost 30 years if yessoftware is interested i would be the first to sign up for an email help forum or any other type of forum including a live chat forum and i do respond when i can help even to the extent of building code and or testing the results of others code. sometimes my assistance is simple knowing who to ask for guidance but help is help.

the advantage for AwaySys is that we get to see exactly what others are having success with as well as failures this allows me to make better judgements as to what works, what works well and what just plain blows

3) i would second the notion that yessoftware should have a functional Knowledge base and that it should be kept up to date preferable in realtime

since the CCS toolset should allow data sets to be shared i find it incredible that Yessoftware has problems keeping this updated i have now spent a large amount of time scrolling thru the discussion lists hoping to find answers to my questions and so far NO JOY.

4) since the code required to use CC and CCS is also tied to multiple scripting and database languages i would suggest that the help files include links to searchable sources and of course examples of those required languages. in addition these sources should be searchable within the help system and be context sensitive

5) this is just a request for a new feature -- we work extensively with macromedia products and this CCS toolset would be a great help if combined with flash and shockwave data driven sites

so my request is simple we would like to have all 15 of the example sites built in flash and or shockwave though both would be preferable as shockwave has a larger feature set and is more flexible even including flash sites within a shockwave site.

6) a live chat forum as well as chat help from the YesSoftware support team would be most useful and i for one would use and participate in as much as possible. when MSN was initially in Beta phase i helped with that including being number 48 to login ( before bill :-)) ) after it was ready to be released with the then concurrent release of win95 i helped to run those chat forums so that newbies could get as much realtime assistance as possible this was incredible useful not just for the newbies and us techies but also for MS as they were able to see what issues thier software had and to get this kind of data in realtime was beyond valuable. i would suggest that this could help all of us in this community.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

finally im not sure how the rest of the community feels about my comments and suggestions but i would be willing to bet that most if not all of this group has a serious need to use CCS and CC and we would all hate to see this toolset disapear for any reason as this toolset allows VERY rapid developement and this allows all of us to have real lives rather than being tied to a screen and Keyboard all day and night. me personally i have other things which i would prefer to be doing rather than debugging code and trying multiple times to get a job done and then finding out it isnt possible and or that i just found a bug.

example this is memorial day weekend and i expect to have to miss a BBQ which was planned months ago because of developement which fell behind the timeline and now i must catch up to the milestones which we set. not a good thing and my other half is not just mad but furious and i feel terrible to have upset her (but also i was looking forward to relaxing just a bit for a day or 3)

AwaySys charges quite a few pennies to find and correct bugs in other's products and this is unfair of YesSoftware to expect the audience to have to pay for these tests. if something does not work as expected and i review the Knowledge base and nothing is listed i make a normal assumption ( that its my fault ) and that i am simple missing something so i continue trying to get it to work

i dont know anyone who would buy a new car and if it stopped running would put up with any auto manufacturer telling them you need to find and report that issue to us and in the meanwhile you cannot drive.

so a last suggestion to YesSoftware how about a prize to all those who find and report bugs in addition if you find a bug and also have found either a workaround or a way to fix this bug you should get a better prize :-))

these can and should all be posted to the knowledge base and to the discussions

Thank you all for giving me the time of day.

Steve, AFAIK, the GotoCode Website was created and can be opened only in CodeCharge, not CodeCharge Studio. Not sure if it may be available as CCS project, so you may want to contact YES support. I guess the same applies to some of your other comments.
