No..
I doubt whether I would have ever got to the proficiency to want to register CCS unlesss I had this site.
More users are the lifeblood of getting this thing to the next level.

I disagree to having a...
Official Closed Forum - Registered Users - ONLY -
We as a Forum...should be able to discuss openly any subject we wish...and expressive enough to discipline/ignore those "immature clowns" who are offensive to other users...or "wind them up"...humour aside
I fully agree to an earlier suggestion...THAT THE ONLY WAY...to get a response from YESSOFTWARE...to a question that needs answering
...is to ask YESSOFTWARE directly...and then post that question and the YESSOFTWARE ANSWER on a new thread.
This would allow anyone else interested in the question/answer...to also comment...or not
My "repeated suggestion" asking for support to persuade YES SOFTWARE to update the Knowledgebase on a daily/weekly or more regular basis
is a typical example...So I will ask them directly and post their reply...I should have done this months ago (
It would also allow users to post any support answer they would like to share with others.
I hope you all have a productive and rewarding week
Regards
Tony M

Thanks for the note, but please, can people answer just a yes / no
and post comments in another thread of your own, like som epeople already have been doing..
this way we can easily see what the feelings are, and so can YES Software

Here is an excerpt of a letter I sent to Yes today. We'll see what they say:
1. Close to forum to ONLY registered users.
a. Allow users profiles to be created with basic info such as a username, email address, maybe Instant Messenger, Yahoo IDs,etc.
2. Break the Main Forum in to several forums that are controlled by Yes.
a. Example: Forum A (Coding)
b. Example: Forum B (Installation Issues)
c. Example: Forum C (Database)
d. Example: Forum D (Coding)
e. Example: Forum E (Code Snippets)
etc., etc.,…
3. Each forum will allow users to enter or reply to new posts.
a. Each forum will show # of posts, # of threads, and last post.
b. Each post will be categorized by:
i. AUTO-ENTERED: Username
ii. REQUIRED FIELD: Product (CC, CCS),
iii. REQUIRED FIELD: Programming Language,
iv. OPTIONAL FEILD: Browser Type
c. Thread TextArea contains WYSIWYG tools for better text manipulation. This will allow code posting to show up better.
4. Email capability to be built-in
a. Allow option to email original poster to be sent emails when a reply is made.
5. Advanced Search Capabilities
a. Allow searches based on the categories mentioned above. Date Ranges, Username, Product, Programming Language, Browser Type, etc.

They replied to my Request but I don't know how sincere it is just yet.
I would like to think that now that they have somewhat stabliized their Studio version, they can maybe focus on their services (web support, FAQ, forum, etc.) a bit more.
Here is the full transcript of my letter to Yes. It's a bit long-winded, but I hope it gets the point across.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
To: Yes Software.
I have been a Yes Software customer and loyalist for a couple of years now and have used both of your flagship products Codecharge and now Codecharge Studio.
I have nothing but great things to say about your product. I have fully integrated myself with not only your product but also the internal API (Objects and Methods) that are custom to your product. In general I have had a good experience working with your support staff over the years. They have made great efforts to answer my questions to the best of their abilities. That is all that I can ask of a support staff (I should know because I do second and third tier support myself).
I have one problem though. I need to request that you guys and gals make a serious effort to update your Forum to a level that's in line with most other forums being used today. This is a request that I'm sure you are probably hearing more and more.
Why update it? Well, let me give you some simplest and most obvious reason.
It's out-dated!
Now I don't know what the original reason for creating a forum was in the first place, but I'm sure that there was not a whole lot of emphasis placed on feature detail. Maybe it was just to showcase your product. Maybe it was other reasons. Whatever the case, since your release of Codecharge Studio about a year ago, your customer base has probably increased by several magnitudes. I can also reasonably assume that it has also increased your support request numbers by several magnitudes as well. This means that there are many more people going to your forum for general advice or discussions. Some are newbies who are trying to grasp the new OO-style API that Studio uses and some are experienced “Codechargers” (new term) that are on some major developing gig using your product. Because of the unique fact that there are many languanges that can be used and many scenarios involved, an efficient forum is a must.
I believe I understand what a forum is in relation to a product support line. It is a place to have discussions on different subjects by various users who have one thing in common. They own the product. The most important thing it does is it increases the identity of your product due to the sense of community that a good forum represents. So in that sense, it is very vital to your existing customer base and obtaining new customers. But it is also essential as a first-line of defense, so to speak, for your support staff. The concept being that the end-user can try to lookup general info from his fellow end-users to find the answers that he/she needs. If no luck, then go on to Yes Support (if a paying customer).
What you have now just does not live up to what many would consider a standard way of presenting a forum. I think that there could be some small changes made to vastly improve our experience in your forum, which in turn will allow your support staff to more efficiently take on the critical task of supporting the “real” issues.
I try not to state a problem without offering up at least a proposed solution. Here is what I propose. I could be drastically wrong on some of them. It’s just an example. Yes obviously has the final decisions though.
1. Close to forum to ONLY registered users.
a. Allow users profiles to be created with basic info such as a username, email address, maybe Instant Messenger, Yahoo IDs,etc.
2. Break the Main Forum in to several forums that are controlled by Yes.
a. Example: Forum A (Coding)
b. Example: Forum B (Installation Issues)
c. Example: Forum C (Database)
d. Example: Forum D (Coding)
e. Example: Forum E (Code Snippets)
etc., etc.,…
3. Each forum will allow users to enter or reply to new posts.
a. Each forum will show # of posts, # of threads, and last post.
b. Each post will be categorized by:
i. AUTO-ENTERED: Username
ii. REQUIRED FIELD: Product (CC, CCS),
iii. REQUIRED FIELD: Programming Language,
iv. OPTIONAL FEILD: Browser Type
c. Thread TextArea contains WYSIWYG tools for better text manipulation. This will allow code posting to show up better.
4. Email capability to be built-in.
a. Allow option to email original poster to be sent emails when a reply is made.
5. Advanced Search Capabilities
a. Allow searches based on the categories mentioned above. Date Ranges, Username, Product, Programming Language, Browser Type, etc.
I sincerely hope you at least consider at least some of what I am asking on behalf of a majority of your users. If you are already in the planning stages of doing some of what I have talked about, then halleluiah! Give us some word on it.
My humble regards,
George P. Lerma
We'll see what responses occur in the days and weeks to come.

As I started this thread, I think I am basically in total agreement with your post to Yes.
Some good points were made in another thread as well.
Maybe its time for Yes to take note now that it is something which it seems a majority of people want.
