 Disappearing Grid Data

After populating Grid with data and initially viewing to verify data received (initially all data appeared), I rearranged several fields on the Grid. In next live view several field values were no longer displayed.

Does the sequence of fields in the Grid have to match actual sequence of field placement in the data table? Would seem that if variables have been created from the query that the variables could be placed in any sequence.

Did notice previous posting indicating issues when pulling SQL text (memo type) fields and a recommendation to design data table with all memo type fields as the last fields in the table. Is this still an issue? Is there a workaround? (Hate to tell users to redesign their data tables....)

I haver never had this problem, not with cc and not with CCS. I think you must be doing something while re-aranging that couases this behaviour. What exactly do you mean by re-aranging. If you for example place one of the fields in the no records row the data will not show up. If you place a field outside the table only 1 value will show etc etc. I can put labels together in one cell, add columns to a row etc etc. thedata will always show up the same.

maybe you could give some more information about the changes you make?

Duplicated the problem several times in CCS and also duplicated it in DWMX. It appears to be related to the sequence or order by which the data has been retrieved from the table.

What I mean by "rearrange" is that I moved fields between cells of the grid table. In some cases putting two fields into one cell, in others moving a field from a left-most field to a field to the right.

Doing this same action in DWMX caused similar problems - text field and others not to display after changes. By examining the SQL query and rearranging the order in which the fields were retrieved from the database in the query to match the left-to-right order of the displayed grid caused the values to reappear.

I don't discount the point that attributes (fields) of the data tables should be structured as closely to the way the data will be most often displayed or that SQL queries should call data in the order it was structured. Just wanted to avoid possible corruption of query retrieval.

I understand. I think you should contact Yes about this because I can not reproduce this error in my version of CCS so it isn't standard behaviour. I can do what ever I want with the grids without loosing data. The one thing that does cause loss of data is when I move fields but forget to move the tags, happens mostly in DreamweaverMX.
