Please could someone point me in the right direction. My query sounds
simple, and the average programmer out there can probably do it in his/her
sleep; I'm an absolute newbie and haven't slept for the last three days,
trying to figure this out.

I've built a database for a volunteer group I belong to, and want to
web-enable it. Stumbled across CodeChargeStudio and thought it would solve
all my problems. But I find I'm totally inundated with documentation.
Reading posts in this newsgroup have sent me scuttling in ten different
directions. Now I need someone to help restore me to sanity. Please!

Overview: a simple database listing people and the topics on which they
speak. Each user should be able to log in and add to/update their own user
details and speaking topics, but no one elses. Anyone can log in and search
for speakers on a specific topic or in a particular region.

I would like to create a Register page, where new users create a username
and password. The database must then assign a userid, which becomes their
primary reference in all related tables (or should the username be set as
the primary key?). After registering, the user completes a more detailed
form (tel, address, etc etc etc), which should be tied to his/her
userid/username (some form of insert statement?). The user can then proceed
to the next form, and fill in speaking topics, linked to various search
categories, keywords etc.

On subsequent visits the user logs in with a username/password combination
and the userid/username would be passed to either session or application
variable (which is better?), which allows the user to update his own
records, but not other peoples. This is where I get bogged down every time.
Would someone be willing to hold my hand through this process? Any guidance
would be gratefully accepted.

Using Access 2000, with ASP 3

Juergen

Hello,
Probably you want to create this system by yourself! I suggest that you go through the CCS ‘Task Manager’ tutorial. As I remember it includes all the features you’re talking about.
