Just started to try studio. How do I upload a sample to see if it works on
my web server that supports asp..

For example, I copied the files for
codechargestudio/Examples/Internet/Portal into the project that i am working
on in Frontpage and designed a link to the login.asp. I also copied the
access database there.

This opens up the login page but none of the other pages work.

Do I edit the common.asp page.

For example. do I edit the lines in the common.asp and make it:

ServerURL = "http://www.website.com/Internet/Portal/"

and

ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;User ID=Admin;Data
Source=www.website.com\Internet\Portal\Internet.mdb;Persist Security
Info=False"

Sorry, I am a newbie.

Thanks

Steve Lynch

Steve,
You are on the right track
- I generated the Portal example with no modifications
- after FTP I edited my common.php
and it works with no other modifications
please make sure your database is in place
and the correct permissions are set

Sorry, just saw the newbie line...

IMPORTANT : for this test to work you must have a fresh copy of Portal, move
your present example folder elsewhere if you have to and do a Repair-Install
by running the installer and choosing Repair.

1- Reboot >>>>start CC Studio
2- Load fresh copy of Portal example
3-generate the whole project locally (default)
4-Browse to http://www.localhost/Portal/
if you cannot browse the non-login areas then
-see if you can run a simple non-CCS script
in the same folder, then
-Follow the CCS tutorial very carefully and retry
Do not proceed if this step is incomplete
Don't worry about the login-areas yet.
5-Now FTP the whole Portal folder to your site
using any 3rd party FTP app
Don't forget to upload your database as well
Set the correct permissions for your database folder
6-Then edit your common file
ONLY CHANGE
ServerURL to http://www.YOURSITE.com/Portal/
Provider to your Provider
Data Source to your Data Source
User ID to your User ID
Password to your Password
7-FTP the changed common file to your site
8-Browse to http://www.YOURSITE.com/Portal/
It should work
9-if you are browsing locally OK but not remotely
then see if you can run a simple non-CCS script remotely
10-if remote Portal example still does not work:
please review your common file changes from step 6.

Good Luck!
