 Hidden Fields in Tutorial

Hi,

I'm evaluating CodeCharge Studio by trying out the tutorial (V1.0 hah!)
apart from the numerous mistakes in the code and screenshots, I have finally
hit a dead end with the hidden fields on pages 62-65 of the manual.

When I add the hidden fields, and try to add a record, I receive an error
message stating that the field values have been declared twice in the insert
SQL statement.

What's going on?

Steve

PS Great product but I may have to to wait til V2.0 ;-)

Well half a head of hair later and no response from this group, I have
worked out the problem with the Tutorial.

Where we are instructed to change Name, Control Source, Data Type and
Default parameters for the hidden field, it does not say to change the
Source Type to Code Expression from Database Column (despite the screenshot
showing the latter). This prevents the field being added to the SQL
statement twice.

I can't believe that I'm the only one to have come across this problem!

Oh well onwards with the rest of the tutorial (til the next typo, mislead,
etc).

Steve
:-(

Well the excitement of not seeing an SQL error got the better of me as the
solution suggested above doesn't work as the values are not being displayed
on the form so I'm back to where I started.

Oh, well I've still got half a head of hair....

Anyone know what's going on?

Steve

Thanks Roland, nice to know that someone is reading my inane drivelling.

I can't believe that the product doesn't behave as it should.

I (as would many others, I do not doubt) would be pleased to test Yes
Software's tutorials before they are released as I do think this product is
(potentially) excellent. I learned scripting on ASP, moved to PHP (security,
cost, reliability, etc or something ;-) made me do it!) now learning
Coldfusion to lure the big boys and this is a one-stop-shop for all my
needs.

I like to think that I am no scripting-moron but I can't afford weeks to
learn new applications and technologies because of a rushed release or
poorly written documentation.

I had my credit card in my hand until I reached this cul-de-sac that I can't
figure out. The HTML says that it shouldn't be included in the SQL but it is
.....why???

As you say, wait for V2.0 or (M$ V1.0 Service Pack 5). SIGH...

Well Steve, you're not the only one with this problem with the tutorial. :D
I ran into it to. I was able to get it to assign the proper users but I
wasn't able to get it to display the date assigned as it should...

Right now, it displays NO date at all. :D

As far as the user assigned by thingy, what I did was I made the LABEL field
a code expression and changed the hidden field to be the database column.
