How do we make the search form not retrieving data when just load because it
retrieve all data in the data base which take a lot of time if we have a lot
of records

You can do that by spliting query page from results page.

Although I've not figured out how to reference objects/variables in the main
code block from events, you can add the BeforeExecuteSelect event to your
form to modify the select. One trick is to include the term "1=0" in the
WHERE clause, so that no rows will be retrieved.
I've not been able to find anything to clue me in as to how to refer to the
command object that fires the "before select" event.

Having 1-0 in the where clause does not help because it means any
subsequence retrieval will not retrieve. We only need it not retrieve when
loading so it take so long to load because the keyword parrameter is empty
This might be a bugs of the Code Charge studio

That's the whole idea of the BeforeExecuteSelect event - you have the chance
to modify the select. First time through - add the 1=0, subsequent passes
leave it out.

This condition must be added based on another condition.
Check if no input parameters come and only then add 1=0

Can you provide an example.? I've not been successful referencing the
variables/objects in the event procedures. I can't figure out what the
trick is. The code in Common.asp passes "Me" when it raises the event. I
assume that somehow that gets exposed to my custom event code, but since no
parameters are passed into it, i don't know what to do. I have not found an
example yet that shows this, and it is not documented in the help file.
thanks,
don

Or by specifying a non existent default value in the parameter section. Page
will load with "no records"until you do a search.
