I'm working on a project as a gift for my aunt. For the moment, she only has
dial-up access, but needs to be able to update the database for her site. Is
there a way for her to do this locally and then upload or email the database
changes rather than be online for a couple hours tying up the phone line?
Basically, can I have a web version and local version of her site?

Thanks. All hints, tips, and suggestions welcome. Well, most anyway. ;o)

The first one I can think of is if the project uses Access as the db. It
would be easy for her to do the changes locally and upload the db via ftp in
the same manner that the site is uploaded. This is assuming the ISP will
store the db in the same directories (they should). This is also assuming
she won't get a huge amount of traffic. If not a windows based server, then
possibly text files fro the data (assuming there isn't a lot of it).

I'm sure there are others but that's the ones that come to me right off.

Shawn,

Thanks for the assist. It IS an Access db. The problem is she needs to be
able to use
a local version of the website for data entry. There are a lot of repetitive
items that
have been streamlined on the site, but if she can't input the data locally,
this is all for
naught. I seem to remember there being a IIS NT Service or addition package
that
allowed you to run local ASP files but I'm now at a loss for links and info.
Ideas?

Thanks again...

John

John,

The package you are looking for is part of the NT Option Pack 4.
