Quick Question... is the "Gererated with CodeCharge Studio" logo or whatever
you call it, displayed in the purchased version?

If is is, guess I need to look for some new software!

No, it is not on a purchased version.

which is a real pain....

True, but I can look at anyone's source and tell if it was Front Page or
Dreamweaver as well. Other tools I'm sure I could figure out but I haven't
taken the time to look at the uniqueness in most of them.

And this is a PROBLEM why??? If you MUST have it removed, just use a global search and replace tool when publishing the code to a production server.
JCrowe

The problem is it is non-standard. Neither Dreamweaver or FrontPage list
"Pages Generated By (Product Name Here)"

Pain??? why???

- the code-generator CC or CCS has generated the majority of the code, not
the *programmer* who has used ->tweaked this innovative and unique tool.
- having used the code-generation of this visionary product the *programmer*
now chooses to hide this fact from the customer/site visitor, why? to lie
that the code was entirely written by said *programmer* ('cuse me while I
puke at the sheer blatant untruthfullness/unthankfullness of said
*programmer*)
- to remove this from sites generated from trial versions is robbing
YesSoftware of sales, and it this pirate attitude can destroy this very
promising but ack so small teams success, surely none of us want to kill the
goose that lays the golden eggs?

Please reconsider the need to remove due credit from source, it does not
wear the wisher well.

Dave

Having the product name in the code generally should not be problem and
follows, what has been in the past, an acceptable practice. The problem lays
by having it flashed on everypage CCS generates without choice. That is not
standard practice. As far as YES Software is concerned it becomes "free
advertising" somewhat similar to auto dealers placing their slogans on your
license plate holder...i.e Village Lincoln Mercury, Hometown USA,
555-555-1212. How many of those have you removed before ?

Anyone who cares to look at the car can tell it is a Ford or Lincoln or
Mercury...we dont need to be forced to advertise. A much better option would
be to offer the *Programmer* or the "reseller of services" the option to
place a professionally designed logo in the corner of the page. Personnally
as a new comer to CCS learning to build ASP pages I would be proud to show
off the tools...but dont force on me.

Enjoy,
JCrowe

I don't understand. You've purchased CCS and are still receiving this
message? I started using CodeCharge since the very early days, and I'm now
using CCS2, and I haven't had any "Generated By" messages since I first
downloaded the trial. You have purchased a copy, correct?

If you have purchased a copy then there is obviously a problem because it
shouldn't show up. You might need to uninstall, download the newest version
and reinstall. That should fix any problems you are receiving.

If you haven't purchased a copy, and if you are indeed using the trial then
you need to commit or look elsewhere. I don't believe that Yes Software
believes it is free advertising. I think it is a deterrant to using the
trial software for production. It is a $500 piece of software that they
allow trial users to use without any limitations except for a time limit and
a tiny line that says "Generated by CCS" or whatever. They could do what
other software companies do, and not allow projects to be saved, or not
allow publishing the pages at all. Those are also considered acceptable
practices by some. This is the best possible solution for Yes Software, and
it is totally understandable to me.

The price of CCS pays for itself many times over in one project alone, and
in my opinion should be much higher. Not a popular view, I know, but you get
such a great ROI for it that it's almost obscene. Think about it - one
dynamic website can call for a price between $1k and $20k or more, easily.
That's one project. CCS, with its limitations and bugs and all, cuts down on
development time dramatically. That saves (and makes) the development team
money by allowing them to work on more projects, and heck, it can even save
your clients money in reduced development time. It also opens you up to
more projects and allows you to upsell to your current clients if you aren't
already offering dynamic modules for your sites.

I don't use CCS for everything, but it's the right tool for the job many
times. If you haven't purchased it, I say take the plunge. There's now
decent documentation, a helpful community here and at www.codechargers.com .

"Power by 'spiffyware'" is very common to see as a condition of use,
although mainly with GPL'ed software.

Howver, CCS does not require that and does not do that EXCEPT while in
evaluation mode. If you have a legitimate licensed copy then contact
support@codecharge.com. They will be very happy to help you sort out the
problem. Somewhere, the license must not have been properly applied.

I cannot say what happens to apps you build in eval mode, then license CCS.
It may not strip out the tagline (probably not, since I think it's just
text in the HTML and not a control or template block that CCS could parse
and delete). So you may have to take them out manually. Surely there are
not so many that you can't edit them out? Or do they keep coming back? If
so, I'll send you back to paragraph 1. Yes tech support is very good,
responsive and pleasant to work with so do hesitate to contact them.

Your comments are just. However the topic is not "Is CCS a Good Product" I
think we all agree that it is. It is the "Generated By" message. The
original question posed before this thread got sliced and diced was "Does
CCS produce the 'Generated By' message on the PURCHASED copy not the eval
copy. I believe a visit to your domain michaelweaver.org will clear up any
confusion.

Enjoy,

Yes, I'm a dork. Thanks. :-)

The original messages do not seem to be on the news server anymore, so I had
no real frame of reference. I thought you were trying to get around paying
for CCS, which only hurts Yes Software and future updates to CCS.

Sorry I got off on a rant, but I think it's a great piece of software.
