Hi All,

Say I'm developing an application in PHP using MS ACCESS for a specific
customer that have a Windows hosting server. And then I have other customer
with the same needs but using a different server OS like Linux. Both
situations, I can keep PHP, but i will need to dump the Access table to
something like MySQL or PostgreSQL... The question is: if I make all the new
connection setup, will CCS do everything else or do I need to entirelly
rebuild the application?

Thanks

If you code custom queries, such as in an event routine, then you will have
to ensure the syntax is valid for the new database. Actually, CCS intends
to accommodate this situation by providing functions to construct queries in
a standard way, which it can then properly adjust for the target
environment.

So, the answer is in two parts:

(1) CCS generated code WILL get changed to work with the new database
(2) you may have written custom code that you will have to manually change

You can minimize the impact of (2) by becoming familiar with the CCS
functions that deal with database queries and being sure to use them rather
than putting in lots of code that only works for one target system. I admit
to being lazy myself and I don't follow this advice. Someday I know I will
regret it.

Hello Paulo
The CCS IDE made code should make the switch OK if the apps are in different
projects & folders
